After protestants broke away from the Catholic church 500 years ago, they suddenly realized that they had no authority from God to validly administer any of the 7 sacraments.

That being the case, they taught everyone that sacraments were just "for fun" or "symbolic" and that faith alone would save.

All the new testament language about the necessity of baptism, Jesus himself being baptized, and all the other antetypes of baptism (circumcision, parting the Red Sea) in the old testament didn't impress the new "Bible believing Christians" either.

Now, who would ever expect a BAPTIST to claim that BAPTISM is unnecessary? It makes no sense!

The Holy Spirit (or some other spirit) told them it was OK to ignore the Bible, as well as Christ's personal example, and just do it their way.

Lots of luck!

Well, many denominations believe that the "Gifts of the Spirit" were for biblical times only, to help build the church from point A.
It may also have to do with sensitivity to newcomers. I am an associate and music pastor at my church. We are an Assembly of God church which believes in the manifestation of gifts, but we do have to be careful as to how it is presented to the babies in Christ, because as Paul said in Corinthians, (paraphrased) people would think we are crazy, unless they are educated on what the gifts are. As to "Getting the Holy Ghost" I am a firm believer that we have the Holy Ghost the moment we accept Christ into our lives. Tongues, Prophecy, and all the others are simply the "evidence." I know many many people who do not speak in tongues or prophecy, but I do know that the Holy Spirit speaks to them in unbelievable ways. Hope that answers your question.

I go to a Baptist church, Most churches baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.....And baptism doesnt save you....Jesus does and your belief in Him but it is commanded so we should all do it but if you get hit by a bus and die moments after you are saved by calling upon the Lord and you have not made it to baptism, you'll still be ok like the theif on the cross.

I have tried many denominations and I find that they seem to specialize in some parts but not the whole bible. I was raised Baptist and found that it never taught of the 2nd coming or Revelations. I know that is not true af all Baptist. It is somwhat difficult to find a church that is well rounded but just as people are running the church and are human they are always found lacking. That is why we ourselves must read and know the bible and fill in the gaps that the church doesn't teach. Looking to Jesus Christ as the author and finisher of our faith. You are lucky if your church teaches (correctly) all aspects of the bible.

Most preachers don't preach Acts 2:38 salvation because it is false doctrine. Acts 2:38 churches are well recognized in the United States as cults, and I'm sorry that you've been caught up in that. I hope that you continue to serve the Lord, and I'm sorry you've been deceived by the Apostolic/Pentecostal way of life.

Pastors don't preach about it because these are controversial subjects. They have to preach it compulsory if they believe that these are true. They believe but they don't preach as they don't want to hurt the sentiments of the so called Christians who are on the fence. Some of the Christians don't believe in baptism and Holy Spirit. So the pastors don't want to hurt them. They want themselves to be goody goody. They want to please men more than please God. Woe unto them for being fakes. They are misleading the sheep. These pastors are wolves in sheep's clothing. May their tribe become extinct.

Catholics believe no one will get to heaven unless you are baptized including children. That is wrong. Children will go to heaven because they honestly don't understand right and wrong. Adult baptisms are for adults who accepted Christ. When you are dunked into the water the person you were died and the new Christian you is born.
