I've got several friends that feel just because someone is muslim, it makes them a terrorist due to 9-11-01. My thing is this. If people like this are allowed to get away with calling all Muslims terrorists for the acts of a few, then does that give me the right to call Christians terrorists for what they did to my kin in Salem, Mass. all those years ago? Does it mean we should call all Romans murderers for putting some saint up on a cross 2000 years ago? and what about the Germans, should we call them all Genocidal Maniacs for what a few of them did to the Jewish during WW2?

Religion has been used as an excuse to kill people for thousands of years. This is nothing new.

Yes, all of your statements would be correct in the same way of thinking. But why people are harder on the muslims now is actually because they remember it. I think it depends on the generation. I believe that if you live through it and are effected by it; then it is harder to forgive and forget. Older generations that lived through WW2 and remember it do consider the Nazis maniacs. Another factor dealing with the current muslim prejudice is that our wounds are so fresh. That still doesn't make it right.

Dear Layos,
A very good point raised. The Romans, early Christians, almost all civilisations are all gulty of terrorism and genocide.

The unfortunate thing is that today, you are faced with world prejudice and CNN.

When Muslims were slaughter in the former Yugoslavia by Christians, there werent that much hoo-hah.

In my hopeless wait for world peace, you could tell your brethren that if they stop televising their beheadings and suicide bobmings, perhaps the world will think less of you all as terrorists.

You got the media and commercialism against you.

It's unfortunate that so many like to blame all for what a few have done. You are correct in your analogy since many religious followers are responsible for millions of deaths in our history. The Christians have had their day of wiping out any that did not choose to change over to their beliefs and a few still do. Ask them if they want to be put in the same catagory as the "christian" skin heads, the clinic bombers, Klu Klux Klan, etc? There are fools and those capable of terrorism is almost all groups of all kinds.

If it is possible you can talk to your friends and explain this truth you are carrying. Hopefully they will listen and come to a more mature understanding of their connection to their community. Or you may have to find friends that have more a more world view instead of such a narrow view of the world.
It would be easier to live if every issue that communities dealt with were black or white. But we live in a gray complicated world community.
Stay faithful and in communication with your family. People do grow. Like you stated we no longer call large groups of people names, or accountable for past atrocities.
OR - well yes - call people names if that's what you have to do. It sounds like it's against your nature, but sometimes the pressure is tough, and this causes regrets. Don't regret a slip up. IF you SLIP. You want to fit in.

Well, people "like that" are NOT supposed to get away with calling all Muslims terrorists. They do it anyway. That doesn't mean it's condoned by the majority of people.

Only an ignorant person would call all Muslims terrorists.
