God didnt necessarily mean physical death, He meant spiritual death..as in a spiritual separation between Adam and God.

He did die, but not in the sense of dropping dead. The Hebrew literally means "dying you shall die", which talks about the onslaught of death and its eventuality. Adam's spirit died that very day and fellowship with God was broken, but the wearing out of the body till final death is the physical consequences Adam experienced as a dreadful result of sin. Physical death would be the end. Death as a result of sin is therefore an invasion into an otherwise perfect world. Which is why death is also the last enemy to be destroyed. Which is also why Jesus had to die physically on the cross, so that through His death He can bring forth life to us all. There's a saying I particularly like which goes:
"Born Once, Die Twice. Born Twice, Die Once"
Meaning, if we are born in the flesh, we will die physically and spiritually. But if we are born in the flesh, and then born again in the spirit, we will only die once in the flesh. The second death cannot hurt us.

Adam did die. He lived to be 930 years old Genesis 5:5
With God a day is as a thousand years Read 2ND Peter 3:8
Adam lived 70 years short of Gods day.

The story is a myth. The bible is full of contradictions, this is one.
Adam will die on the day that he eats from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Adam eats from the tree, yet lives another 930 years.
Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food ... she took of the fruit therof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 5:5
And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
The bible is full of such non-sense.

Adam did die. If he and Eve had not eaten from the tree, they would have lived forever. Since they ate from the tree, God cast them out of Eden and gave them, and all creatures, a limited life span. The phrase "in the day" doesn't have to refer to a 24 hour period, but could refer to a period of time.

God tempered his judgment with mercy. Notice that He even made Adam and Eve clothes out of animal skins after passing judgment on them.
Some Jewish teachers claim that the reason no one lived over a thousand years was because in this passage...
Psalms 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.
...a thousand years in God's eyes are but one day and so Adam did acutally die on the "day" that he ate of the tree.
Christians say that Adam died a spiritual death on that day because his sin separated him from God, the source of life. The reason that God didn't want Adam to eat from the tree of life after that incident was because then he would have continued living a life separated from God which is one of the definitions of hell. God gave Adam and Eve this prophecy that looked ahead to Jesus and since they believed it they had saving faith in the messiah and won't be doomed.
Genesis 3:14 The LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. 15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
Who told you that Adam did not die? The Bible clearly states that he did die.

Adam and Eve were created perfect, designed to live forever. That was God's purpose. They were to fill the earth with perfect offspring, look after the animals and the earth.
However, when they sinned, they lost all that. They began to age and eventually die.Because we are their offspring we too inherit that imperfection and we also age get sick and eventually die.Had Adam and Eve obeyed God,they would still be alive today, and we would all be perfect healthy happy people with eternal life before us

there are a couple interpretations of this ... one, God did not mean that he would "die", as in body, but as in the spiritual sense.
Two, he could've been saying it to keep them away from the tree.
In any event, their good life "died"--their non-questioning parasdisial life was killed. They realized that they were naked, and they became actual humans--what we are today. They experienced the negative side of the human feeling spectrum.

Let's loosely retranslate that to say "you will surely enslave yourself to the one who has been given the power of death."
Sinning, Adam lost God's grace, and immediately died spiritually.
His sin also enslaved him and all his offspring to the one who had been given the power of death - Satan.
Since Satan held the power of death, Adam and all his offspring would live in fear of Satan (death) for their entire lives. This led to even more sin.
This is still true today.
Adam of course, did eventually experience physical death, as do all men, so God wasn't kidding.
Without a redeemer, their immortal souls (and ours) would be enslaved to Satan in the next life too, which is eternal.
Christ is the only antidote to eternal slavery and death.
