On larger breed or heavy dogs, the joints form a thick callous from pressure. Soft cushions or carpet don't really prevent or heal it. It's just a pressure point and shouldn't cause any problems for the dog.
And thank you for being such a great companion to your dog. I bet he's the happiest Lab alive!

He's 8. That's like 50 or 60 in human terms. He's just aging. If he's average-size he's around 60 or 70 pounds. Even though he doesn't lick or scratch he lays down and that causes the hair to wear. He should be fine but if you're concerned take him to the vet.

That is the same thing with my black lab. He is only 2 and a half though. When they have a lot of exercice, that will happen to them. I dont think it is a major problem. Next time your dog has a vet check up ask him or her about it. My dog has them to, like little scabs, on his elbows.

in keeping with possibility she has mange my beagle had it and the floor each so often is pinker or could be warmer than standard. Fish oil facilitates with it and makes the canines coat proper. All you need to do is purchase fish oil pills from the nutrition lisle like in walmart or something and break open the oil from the pill into the canines nutrients and it will help... My dogs very almost died from mange and he's high quality now he has all Of his hair back and his fur is proper and the fish oil is very inexpensive if it is not mange i might try it in any case it probable might help and if no longer it won't harm your dogs in basic terms make it is coat shinier

They are callouses, all labs that i know of get them , my dog is part lab part pit bull and he started getting at about 5 years. they are not to bad yet. you could try and rub a little Vaseline on them every night and morn to soften them up. do not use too much because he might lick and you don't want him to get sick, if you just rub in real good he will be fine.

There are many methods to make our hair grow faster, shine , glitter in natural ways without using chemicals. Learn here https://bitly.im/aOlId Men, and sometimes women, notice that their hair is thinning prematurely for several different reasons. Age, menopause, pregnancy, genetics, illness, and other factors all play a role in hair loss. Sure, you can use drugs or you can go in for a hair transplant or fusion, but sometimes the easiest, most inexpensive solution, is to try to stop hair loss naturally.

Because you let him sleep on a hard floor - his elbows are taking all the brunt. Give him a cushy bed and his callouses will heal

because he is forming a callus. This is most likely caused from laying on his elbows. It usually does not cause any discomfort. He will be fine.

The fur wears off in older dogs from lying down on bare floors his whole life.
It's nothing on you, just happens.
