Since you know that Christianity is a myth and is a crutch people lean on to explain things they do not understand, why you post so many questions on yahoo! Answers, pertaining to Christianity? Why do you sound so angry? I think that Hercules is a myth, but you don't see me posting 3 million questions about him, condemning the ancient Greeks for believing that! So why do you?

*Disclaimer
This question is not intended to start a fight, or to ask you why you believe what you do, or even to try to "convert" you (your ultimate fear), but to resolve a question that is in the back of my mind.

I have always loved to hear opossing view points on various topics, and am intreged to know why people think the way they do, and how strongly. So I have been asking some questions that I have always wanted to know, but didn't have a forum...

Oh, so you Atheists are trying to push your believes on us, and telling us that we are stupid, and brainwashed. The SAME EXACT thing you say Christians do to other people. The EXACT SAME thing you hate the most! WOW, you really know how to make a point... (but because you are so intellectually superior, that was probably your point all along!)

don't flatter yourself, dizinteira. Like I said, I just like to hear other peoples point of view. It just seemed like an obvious question.

Hercules.... ha ha ha... good point. I think many atheists and non-Christians make waaaaaaaaaay too much out of what we believe. And let's be honest, I'm not going to change my entire belief system simply because of what someone (whom I have never seen nor met, much less KNOW) said on the Internet.
For my part, I don't post questions challenging atheists on their beliefs... I think that kind of discusscion is best reserved for personal conversation, as opposed to Yahoo! answers.
There are just too many smart-aleckys trying to trump Christianity.... they really should find better ways to spend their time. And if they hate the topic in Religion/Spirituality so much, then they should probably just answer questions somewhere else. I mean, hellooo... atheists... religion.... those two don't mix. So why bother?

I'm athiest, I don't mind people using religion to explain things they don't understand. Its when they utterly deny other peoples means to do so with science, or other religions. I hate the "my belief is the right one and all others completely wrong" attitude. And trying to put their religious beliefs in laws in a country that has many different beliefs. I know that is a thin line, but anything that I put here might end up like what about stealing or murder. Well what bout those. Look at wars, or the crusades. What is Thou shalt not Kill mean in modern terms. Is it manslaughter(as in killing with out intent to kill) or murder(killing with an intent) or both. I know that the word Kill that it was translated from could mean ethier depending on the context, and that both share similar means as today. So which one does it mean? Damnit I had to leave for awhile and now lost the point i was trying to put across. Whatever it was I think I got most of it.

I could write books to answer your question and specially what regards Hercules that u brought for example. But I 'll try to be synoptic.

First of all....if you had at least one tenth of the of the analitical ability of the greeks you should be able to see and foresee that the "myth" as you say of Hercules represents nothing else but the "clear" spiritual pathway for development for the humankind.

The myth of Hercules is contained "IN FULL" in to Jesus teachings. Therefore this show us that Jesus has stolen the concept from the Greeks.

1. Kill of the Lion of Nemea.---> kill the ego
2. Capture the horses of Diomedes. --> control the emotions.
3. Kill of Lernea Hydra. ---> minimise or kill the needs.
4. .............
5. .........
I shall not go further because I should have to write a full book. You seem intelligent person U can find by urself the whole story and make your connections.

The fact that Hercules had 12 labours.must make your mind "click"....."Why Jesus had 12 disciples?"

12 were the "main" Gods at Mt Olympus
and finally we have 12 months in a "year".

Good luck with your study......
If you say that you have no need to study... I'll reply that you are full of "fanatism" and you have "blinkers"

As far as about "Christianity"...if you consider yourself free spirited and open minded...check the site bellow.

It may make you start thinking if all what you "accept as truth", is really true.

The whole point of atheism is to question the existence of any god, as they do not believe in one (or many). With that in mind, it seems the most likely thing atheists would do would be to ask a lot of questions.

Generally, the questions are intended to make people examine their beliefs. I see simply examining our own beliefs from time to time and challenging the assumptions we make as a virtue in and of itself. Do we truly know what we believe if we never stop and think about it and why?

The person who posted about our lawmakers also had a very good point. It is hard to see religious beliefs one does not believe in playing such a key role in one's life. Individuals with such experiences often want those with the religious beliefs to stop and think about the assumptions they are making about the rest of the people out there. To do this, one must ask questions. If even one of these questions makes someone stop and think about all those assumptions they are making, then the atheists have seen their interests considered to a greater degree than before.

While it is easy to believe that our beliefs are obviously morally correct, it is much more difficult to consider that others do no agree and maybe we should consider that. These people want you to consider their ideas and you cannot do that without considering their questions about yours. That can be said to be equally true of any other religious belief (or lack thereof). The best part about this forum is that you are forced to ask yourself the questions and see other people's viewpoints through their answers. That is why anyone asks a lot of questions. To get people to think of their answers as well as everyone else's and to expand their knowledge base.

I am an atheist and usually don't do a whole lot of posting about christianity. People love to shove their view points on to others, because of course everyone thinks they are right. BTW I have posted one or two but like you, I just honestly wanted answers to things I don't understand.

Im athiest and if my ultimate fear was to be converted then I would be pretty pathetic aye... Again though you really need to learn what an athiest is.. We are not afraid of you converting us as there is no humanly possible way you could! so thats not a fear, its more like a thorn in your back, extremely annoying!

crap I have no idea what I was originally going to type so im going to leave with only this!

people have to believe in something, in order to put the world in logical view (by there view)
you probably believe in reason ,or science(which stems from reason),but some people believe in different things.
christianity is not a myth, and so are other religions and belief systems, they are simply a way to view the world.

you seem a bit cross, did christianity let you down?

In actuality, it is the Christians who post far more questions in an attempt to...well, I don't really understand their motives. Perhaps you could clarify for us the reasons for Christians to pose questions pondering the correctness of one religion, belief, or lack thereof.

Christian posters even go so far as to claim that the "Religion & Spiritualtiy" sub-forum is really the "Christianity" forum. Perhaps such posters should petition Answerz for Yahoos to further sub-divide this section to Christian, Muslim, Judiasm, Budhism, Wicca, Atheist, and Other.

BTW, for my views on Hercules, look here;

Because many xians are trying everyday to have their agenda pushed down my throat. To ban abortion, morning-after pills, HPV vaccinations, gay rights, etc... So they have lost their immunity from criticism and ridicule (if they ever had one which the crusades and inquisition and even hanging of jesus n the cross would preclude).

And it p**** me off when they tell some woman in the pregnancy section who asks if abortion is an option that god gave her that baby. It ENRAGES me to read that shite. What about the women who can't get pregnant? What about those who need expensive and extensive medical intervention to get pregnant? That is highly insulting, condescending, and idiotic. So I vent my spleen at those xians, yes.

I suppose because atheists see all the harm done in Christianity's name and when that is combined with their belief that the whole thing is a fiction, naturally they are going to feel angry. It doesn't excuse offensive attacks though.
