Honestly, religion seems to be causing a lot of conflict in the world. People of colliding beliefs attacking each other over something that has been brainwashed into their heads seems very sad to me. There is nothing wrong with comforting yourself with visions of what may come after death as a bed time story but when we start supporting these 'guesses' with violence it just isn't right. The more I learn about history the more I begin to hate bible-toting religous finatics for the wounds they inflict on society. So can we please just stop supporting our guesses as facts and keep an open mind?

Religion does not cause conflict, PEOPLE CAUSE CONFLICT! My duty is to spread the word of Jesus and bring good news to unbelievers. It is my duty and you are gonna have to kill me if you want me to stop.

Good news. The trend, if you will, is embarking on just that, keeping an open mind. It's quite funny you know, that at the core of most beliefs, they are all the same basically. They all tell the same stories the same way, so to speak, they all believe in a reason that we are hear, they all believe that it is important to live life a certain way, but the saddest thing is, they all believe that there is only one way to do that, the way they say it should be done. For that very reason, we have all of this elitest illusion, and had it control our moral beliefs, with the most conflicting of interests interest, and that is to judge, be judgemental, be unreligeous in the name of religion. Be hateful, segregate, be unapproachable, be all of the things that religion has claimed to be right in killing for. Doesn't make sense to me. why would there even be a reason for this, when everyone of them are basically saying the same thing intially anyway. Did they start accuseing and crusading because one thought that they said it first, or better, or while holding a ritualistic tool, or on sunday, or to just whites. That distinction alone making it worthy of innilation of millions for saying the same thing on Saturday, in broken English, holding their hands together, or singing it? Then what the **** is it they stand for really? It sounds so ludacrist to be the case, and to think, millions and millions of people buy into this throughout history. What is ludacrist, is that the masses are so willing to have anyone do their thinking and believing for them that it can all take place at all. It is a wonderful thing to be in the company of like minded people, even sufice to say, a religion, but how wonderful is it for others seeking comfort in being with their like minded people and being publically, snuffed out for doing that? Bullshit. Where is the sainity?

Religion is the only thing that keeps some people at rest. It's like.. they have to think that they are living FOR something, rather than just living something.

Your utopia of open-mindedness will never happen. I'm not cynical, I'm realistic.

If it makes you feel a little bit better, I believe that you have a good view on things. I personally don't believe in God. I believe in spirituality, but the idea of one almighty God that controls every detail of our lives, let alone our fate? no. But, that doesn't mean i don't respect other people's religions.

to AznDonuts: That can CERTAINLY be arranged, unless you stop being a dumbshit.

Unfortunatelly, this is a very old problem...and it is not possible to be solved unless the humakind will develope to this point that will be able to throw the blindfolds away.
Ignorance, fanatism and "interests" want to keep the masses under control.
One of the best ways is the induce of hear through "supernatural". Religions can play easily this role.

i've got been advised approximately 10000 cases that i'm not a genuine Christian (TM) because of the fact my ideals do not fall in with the extremist occasion line. I proportion a number of your perspectives. I carry citizenship in an earthly usa (america). there are a number of paths to God. I take part in the two Christian and non-Christian rites. i'm not terrified of non-Christian impacts. I refuse to apply my faith as an excuse for bigotry and hatred. besides, congratulations for not attempting to shove the Divine right into a one-length-suits-all container.

eversince time had begun, religion has been there... but t'is true that religion is not the cause of conflict, it's the people whose understanding of it who creates the conflict. all religion has faith, love, hope, respect, patience, etc... as their fundamental values, but do these people practice their values at all? i suppose not...

we can never support guesses as facts, for they're pure guesses and not facts. facts are basis culminating from ideals, proven by theories, observed and experimented upon... but you're correct that all of us should keep an open mind and not dwell to much on the so-called conflicts or clashes of reasons.... just do what i do, respect their belief... when the topic slowly tunrs into religious discussion, politely tell them that discussing beliefs are not your cup of tea and rather leave it to the seculars to be answered.... smile, continue to hold to your belief, your faith. treat every relgious discussion with respect and humbly accept that one can never satisfy another man's hunger or thirst... ciao....

I side with you on the stopping the attacks upon others' religion beliefs. But it is often vain ignorance and misunderstandings between groups that causes these battles. And as far as halting religion all together, well.... some people see it as a path to personal salvation, others as a way to find themselves, and for those like me, it's a beckoning or calling that brings them to what they believe in.

It's people like you that sit around blaming everything on religion and don't do nothing outside it. You are a sad person. I know what ur destination is and there is no guess about it! I don't support close minded opinions like yours and the rest of your sects. Get a clue instead of complaining and whining!

that could be said about any subject.
abortion causes conflict...let's not talk about it.
death penalties...conflict
politics...conflict
most of these questions on yahoo are conflict...which is better...who is best...
that is the way we work out what we believe, discussing conflict.
as for me, i'm not brainwashed. i believe because i chose as an adult to be a Christian. i did not have it drilled into my head with some water torture procedure. if a person believes in something, they will want to defend it. to repeat the old cliche, "if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."

Thanks you so much for saying that. >< It's not a lesson that only religious folk should learn though, it's for anyone and everyone. Too many problems revolve around religion and the lack there of, we need to call a ceasefire and solve some real problems here.
