The mind controls the body and the soul controls the mind.

Some people seem to have very little control even over their body !
And look at the top performers in Olympic level competitions ! Perfect control over the body.
The mind when under control , focused , can co-ordinate the body performance proportionate to the control one has.
Soul is not something we can feel clearly right now. We have an experience of it only in some rare moments when we are aware of our body and our mind distinctly, and the 'we' as a witness of these two.
Which controls which is very relative. For a deeply intoxicated person, or influenced by drug, the controls are not effective, like a vehicle out of the driver's control. The body if well maintained is like a vehicle under the control of steering wheel, clutch, brake , etc... If these items are compared to sense organs, under the control of the driver (the mind), and driver himself clear about his goal, then his clarity about destination and course is like a purpose oriented soul, heading for liberation, using, vehicle, vehicle-controls, driver, driver's clarity in sequential order to reach the destination at the shortest possible time.

Interesting question!
The body runs itself with little interference from the mind. If the mind has to think about how blood is remanufactured or where it goes, nerve synapses, cells repairing themselves, etc, etc, etc, there wouldn't be anything else to do, right?
So the body takes care of itself. It's literally a separate organism from the soul, but I'm getting ahead of the question.
The mind does affect the body in what is done with it--- cravings for certain foods, substances, addictions, exercise, sex, dangerous activities, etc. Even illnesses can be induced by the mind like cancer, the flu, or stress related illnesses like ulcers, muscle spasms, etc.
The soul on the other hand is not affected by the body but by experiences. The body is used to house the soul only and the body one has causes necessary experiences needed for that soul's growth. It's part of being alive here on earth.
