What do y'all think is the most effective exercise for the deltoids which does NOT involve lifting the arms above the head (no military presses and the like)? Other than flys? I can't lift one of my arms above 90 degrees (injury and yes it is permanent).

Re: Physical therapists. It is quite the myth that PT will teach you everything you need to know for the rest of your life and for every situation you may encounter EVER and for every goal you may have - like gaining more strength given new limitations. Please, people, it's been 11 months of PT and I'm done. Do you really think I haven't been to PT? Spare me if that is your only suggestion.

Hey Joe, why don't you cry about it. How's that praying coming, because my arm is still the same. Tell you what - hold your breath for that prayer to be answered. No cheating!

Wow, shoulder presses really are best, but the only other thing you can do really are lateral, front, and rear raises and variations thereof. Go to www.bodybuilding.com They have lists and explanations and pictures of excersizes for each muscle.

After reading it for 30 minutes a day, lift a Bible as high as you can before feeling pain. Change arms, repeat.

I am glad to help you and of course I will pray for your healing. Praying to God for those who suffer is our greatest ministry!

Though I am confused why you ask for healing in a forum that you judge so harshly on your profile....

You said,

"Yahoo answers is an orgy of stupidity, providing ample hunting grounds for hungry trolls. Thank you, Yahoo, for creating another slum on the internet"

God bless you, heal soon.

Push ups work the anterior deltoids, you could do flys to 90 degrees anteriorally, laterally to the side and posteriorly.

Yo, that's tuff... Shrugs will hit your traps... I would say your best bet, compound excercises, free weights always... you will have to rely on your shoulders to take some of the stress.

Heavy weight (don't go crazy) compound exercise. Free weights.
