We have cash to spend and want to stay in a nice hotel and hang out where the single people are. Please tell us where to go for some last minute Paris summer fun.

There is a very wide range of hotels in Paris and, if price is no object, there are some stunningly good ones. The George V, to name just one, is as good as a hotel gets. Take a look at their website: http://www.fourseasons.com/paris/

Of course, if you're really planning on having a good time and hitting the nightlife then why spend a fortune on your hotel? Someplace (one of many) that is both pleasant and affordable is the Hotel St. Jacques in the Latin Quarter. Take a look at their website here: http://www.hotel-saintjacques.com/

As to where the single people hang out there are a lot of places that come to mind. Some spots are:

Bar 3 (3, rue de l'Ancienne Comédie 6th arr.)

Buddha Bar http://www.buddha-bar.com/#

7 Lezards (10 rue de Rosiers 4th arr.) http://www.7lezards.com/welcome.htm

The Lizard Lounge (18 rue du Bourg Tibourg 4th arr.)

Fubar (5 rue St Sulpice 6th arr.)

Harry's New York Bar (5 Rue Daunou) I admit I'm recommending this place because its just cool to say you have been there. Its where F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway hung out in the 1920s and where they invented the Bloody Mary. There is a very nice piano bar in the basement.

Aux Trois Mailletz. (56 rue Galand 5th arr.) This is where I actually spend most of my nights in Paris. Its not swanky but its a great place with a crowd that spans all age groups.

NB: I should mention that the currently "cool" area is around the new Opera house at the place Bastille.

Sounds like you would want to stay around the Champs Elysees. The best hang-outs in the area would be Buddha Bar (great lounge and restaurant); Man Ray (restaurant and night club, owned by Johnny Dep, Sean Penn and John Malkovich) see and be seen scene; You could also start off the evening at Bar du Plaza Athenee (25 Avenue Montaigne, Paris 8e arrondissement), inside the hotel court yard. For that matter, since money is no object, you could stay at the Hotel (Plaza Athenee). Very classy but with a hip tendancy. Pricey though...
