i would like to know who kills rattle snakes and hangs them outdoors to dry,and eats them .?

I have neighbors living in our neighborhood, who kills the rattlers and hangs them on their clothes line to dry for some weeks, afterwards they eat the snake as if it is an appetizer. At first I was astonished when they showed me the skin of the snake and flabbergasted when I saw them eat it. Has anybody had seen someone else do this?

we cooked them over the fire also put them skinned in frying pan with eggs good stuff.

never dried the meat but do like rattler
did they dry and stretch the skin for wallets or hat bands?

Where I live it's illegal to kill rattle snakes. It's a 5000$ fine.....
