I can really relate. i was brought up in Catholic religion and left it at age 21 more than 35 years ago now. I have had some horrendous experiences with morans calling themselves Christians. They are horrible people who lie, cheat , steal, manipulate all the time preaching the opposite to you. That's why I"m a Pagan now. I've got some real and true values not the phony christian ones.

This is probably not the answer you want to hear, but it is the true one, I assure you.
There is no such thing as "a bad Christian experience." Rather, there are lots of stupid people out there who also happen to be Christian. I'm sorry if you felt that religion was shoved down your throat.I believe that conversion is something that can only take place voluntarily.
That said, many well meaning Christians can get a little pushy because they remember their own experiences of coming to Christ and how happy they were. It also true that a person can make many mistakes if they reject Christ. Your friends no doubt care for you and wish that you could share something that brings them great happiness.
To a Christian, needing God is like needing oxygen--they can fathom life without Him, and wonder at those who can. To use another metaphor, it's like watching someone spit out your favorite food in disgust.
Please be patient with your friends.

Maybe because they are honestly worried about the path that you life is on. And Christians are taught that they have a duty to teach the gospel to everyone.
Yea, I have had some bad religious experiences too, but I just changed churches. I didn't stop believing in Jesus just because I met some abusive people. Not all Christians are the same, and not all churches are the same. My faith in Jesus is not dependent on some human preacher being perfect or some group of people called a church being perfect (one has nothing to do with the other).
Just tell them politely that you have heard it before and that you are not interested. Then they have done their religious duty and they can leave you alone.

Huzzah sista, and praise be to the church of the apathetic agnostic! Woooo!
Or... not? Personally, I'm fine with being an agnosticist. Christians have a world view that is very powerful, so challanges to it are more distorting for them than others. In addition, their world view also veiws those that don't share it as suffering from an ignorance that threatens them greatly, so in a self-righteous selflessness, they preach in an attempt to save. Christian's aren't easily convinced that "all it does is annoy me" because their world view insists there's a benefictial purpose.
My sugguestion is to be agnostic: if anyone says you're just being weak and indecisive tell them that decision is impulsive, inaccurate, and in this particular case unnessecary. You could be athiest, but that takes a bit more justification...

look at it this way ... even if we are wrong for trying to convert you at least we are showing that we care about you ... nobody is going to convert you anyway i understand that... its a matter of your own heart and a personal choice ... so you obviously know the way and have heard the word .. try not to be focused on resisting people and searching for a way to blame negativity in ur life on someone else ... this is a bad thing no matter what your beliefs are ... be a good person and find peace for yourself and dont worry about what others think ... nobody is tying u up and forcing you to do anything .. so yeah like i said just take it as they care what happens to you and why would you be offended by that ? if you think that you are right and they are wrong then just use your enlightenment to make peace out of the situation ... capiche? :)

What's wrong? Are you afraid of hearing what others believe? Jesus gave us the Great Commission of going into the whole world and teaching the gospel to the whole world. As a Christian, I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I am doing my very best, however, to live in such a way that people will see the peace and joy that living for God brings to those who believe and follow Him. You already know the truth and are, for some reason, rebelling against it. Perhaps you're just listening to the devil. Of course you've had bad experiences in the church community. That's because churches are made up of people, all imperfect and some downright evil. I was married to a preacher and I could talk all day about the evil things he did. But that didn't turn me against God. I couldn't have survived what I went through for awhile without holding fast to the knowledge that God loves me, Jesus died for me, and one day I will be with them for eternity. I will pray that some day very soon, you will soften your heart and let Jesus come into your life and that you will be able to forgive those who hurt you so that you can live life to the fullest and have a great place to spend eternity when your life here is ended. God bless you.

Christians are taught not to judge. To say that you will go to hell is a lack of knowledge of their own faith. I have no problem being invited to go to church with a friend (like being invited to a movie I don't want to see) I can go or not. But saying that if I don't go with them and get "saved" I'll go to hell is breaking a carnal Christian rule. But to answer why. they care about you. They are told to spread the good news, and therefore are trying to do so. They are going about it all wrong. You have a choice and they need to let you make it. But if you saw a friend doing something you believed to be detrimental, would you not offer an alternative? I'm not saying that what you're doing is detrimental just trying to help you see their side. But yes they need to let you alone.

They do this because that is what they are taught is religion. That to be saved you must follow their church. The problem is not even the churches agree on how to be saved. If you believe in God, read the bible and follow your heart. If you don't believe in God, read the bible, there is a lot of wisdom in there that you can use in everyday life. Tell your friends that you have not yet found your path to God and prefer to do so on your own. If they continue to try and convert you they are not your friends.

Well, all christians corresponding to myself will have to mirror Christ of their every day lives. Not constantly "pestering" humans approximately how our perception is the one correct one. I have noticeable no less than 100 humans come to be christians. Do u recognise why? Not on account that of a theological arguement, however on account that the truth of the gospel. Christians are known as to elevate the lifeless, heal the unwell, and cleanse the lepers. Sadly no longer many( in north the usa in particular) do that and even suppose it is correct to take action. Jesus is truly i've noticeable him heal many humans, adding blind eyes, damaged limbs, and melanoma. Before you push aside christianity, seem into denominations that suppose within the vigor of the Holy Spirit. I usually wouldnt real suppose christianity if i had no longer noticeable how so much vigor Jesus has. Many christians have experianced the supernatural, at a intensity NO different faith or cult might dream of. Jesus is truly!!!

christianity is a form of religion
religions were formed around the idea of a divine supreme being(s)
we thought up this idea to help us cope with suffering
there are better ways, however, to cope with suffering than religion
it's somewhat of an over reaction
just like it's an over reaction to cut off an infant boy's foreskin when he hasn't even got anything wrong with it
circumcision and religion have continued in our society through tradition
traditions are hard to weed out though, even when they are obviously detrimental, as they are part of our identity
people will feel less meaningful if they have a part of their identity as important as religion taken away
however, we need to face the facts of what religion is taking away from us. it is causing wars everywhere around the planet
it is causing a foreskin to be ripped off a baby boy for no medical reason every 26 seconds in the USA
it is causing us to suspend reason in the interests of the survival of faith
it is therefore dumbing down society
this is bad for evolution
it's more like devolution
therefore, in the interests of avoiding natural selection, ie being weeded out of the gene pool for being stupid and having faith in an imaginary friend rather than building oup one's mental resilience, we should avoid being religious
so in answer to the question, why are christians always trying to convert you - they are desparate for some confirmation that what they are doing is right, when even to their faith infested minds, it isn't
