I did a little research for ya and I think this article from roadragers.com pretty explains it all. Also, I found out about a new auto device that is designed to prevent road rage. Personally, I think the main thing is to just try to keep your cool during the whole situation.
"People easily grow tired of the "idiots" they see on roads every day. Many develop road rage by giving in to their own frustration.
The only problem with giving in to road rage is that it can often get you into a lot of trouble. Others can be just as enraged as you are, and their reaction to you may be down right dangerous.
You should always avoid road rage. Back off and calm down. This is hard for some people. Still, it would be nice to let them know how you feel, without endangering yourself or the general public." (roadragers.com, 2006)
Speak of letting them know how you feel, this cool device I found on-line call the Auto Messenger. This is an LCD display that you can put in your rear view mirror to display messages to other drivers. It holds up to 11 messages that you can program yourself and a remote control for you to change messages with the click of a button. You can say things like "Thank You", "I'm Sorry", "Please Get Off My Bumper", etc. You can check it out at www.TheAutoMessenger.com.

I have road rage because of the country I am living in...In Taiwan, people think if you make eye contact you have given them the right to cut you off. Also, some older people beleive they have "flames of luck" on thier shoulders and if they check their blind spots, they will blow them out. So they never look when they change lanes. I have been hit 4 times simply for stopping at a red light (it is just a "suggestion" here, not the law, according to a vst majority of people). I see an accident almost every other day, that's pretty bad, don't you think?

Hahaha.. I commute around a city FILL with ASIANS. Literally. I am asian too. Hahah.. but most of the asian drivers here drive like there still in China where nobody gives a ______. Its really scary. Recently, I seen a bunch of cops line up on a busy intersection and they would just catch people who were making traffic violations (thank god there doing something). The most horrifying driving experience for me was when I back up right into a sidewalk. Luckily, I didn't cause any damage, except maybe a few scratches. So ya, drive safely. Maybe it will be safer to take public transportation. Maybe...

I know exactly what you mean. Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive! Some lady cut me off on the highway not to long ago, I was in the middle lane of 3 lanes... she was in the right lane and out of nowhere just comes over in my lane, she was barely an inch in front of me, I honked at her but she never moved, just kept comin like she didn't care. I got in the fast lane and past her. Then it seemed like she was mad at me, and past me. I don't know what's wrong with some people! I feel like I'm a magnet for stupid drivers lol, and the ones that get over in front of semis are just plain dumb! Those semi drivers can't stop! Or how about the ones that are in the fast lane and here comes their exit and they cut over all lanes to jump off the highway!! Geesh, I can go on n on lol I wish I knew what caused it. It's also dumb the people that speed through town just to get to the next light and stop LOL how retarded can you be? lol Okay, I'm done taking up your time, have a great night!

I agree, the road rage is getting worse. I have gotten to where I nearly have a panic attack anytime I have to drive the interstates.
I was reading a very interesting article on how not only road rage is on the increase, but also other types of rage. I am going to include a link, you might also find the article interesting.

I live close to Fayetteville, North Carolina, and I know exactly what you mean. I have never seen people drive so...STUPIDLY in my entire life. They'll cut you off then slow down, put their brakes on for no reason, tailgate you, and everything in between. It's just frickin' crazy as heck. And another thing, when someone's coming off the off ramp, these cars don't have the courtesy to MOVE OVER. I mean, sheesh. Do you WANT freakin' accident? It's kinda like DUUUUH, you know?
LOL. I have been tempted to honk at the really slower people, you know, the ones who drive 10-15 miles BELOW the speed limit.
Oi. Crazy people.

People get road rage from everything, depending on their own temperment. I get upset when im on the free way and theres traffic for no apparent reason, only because: people cannot merge on or exit properly....think "zipper" when merging. lol. its like a giant zipper. But people are too busy trying to be first and get in front of everyone that they cant merge and they cause traffic....OR when theres an accident and every stupid blob on the road thinks they neeeeeeed to stop and stare...heres a hint: staring isnt helping anybody! People just dont pay attention anymore to anything! ugh its sickening!
My worst experience with road rage was a few months ago. I was driving my new scion xb going toward LAX ( i had a work meeting), and The freeway splits off into two freeways, the one toward LAX and the another freeway. Im driving with my co-worker in the passenger seat and I go to change into my right lane to merge onto the other freeway. I look in my mirrors and I look over my shoulder ( its a force of habit to look over my shoulder because my other car doesnt have a passenger mirror stock) Im a very cautious driver.
I change lanes and there is not one person around. When i get into the new lane, a guy in a white nissan armada comes speeding up behind me! And he starts to tailgate immidiately. Im already pushing my poor little scion as fast as it can go! (its not that fast!) The guy gets so mad that im in his way (theres NOBODY in the other lanes, he could have gone around) that he cuts me off and slams on his brakes. His car, and mine went from about 70 to 0 in seconds. I honk my horn, and he starts to drive off. I try and change lanes, and he cuts me off again and does the same thing! Then he tried to run me off the road! (some people!) After that huge ordeal he HAD to make, he quickly changes lanes, and goes off in the complete opposite direction on the other freeway that split off from the one I was merging onto! So he had absolutely no reason to do anything like that! I was so shaken I was almost in tears......People need to stop talking on cell phones, stope being so aggressive, take their head out of their butt, and learn how to drive safe, so we can all share the roads. I mean geeez!! lol

i agree with you is it is getting worse,,and most of it is foolishness,,i drive every day,,i have to ,,i own a repair shop,,and have to run and get parts,,and almost every day i almost get hit,,and it is by someone not paying, attention,,and they get mad,,when you almost hit them,,like it,s your fault,,by the way,i live in Tennessee which is just about as bad as Atlanta is,,we have a lot of people re-tiring here from all over the place,,and there not used to driving on these roads around here,,i get really frustrated with them,,but i have to keep my cool,,because sooner or later,,they may wind up being a customer,,but it is getting really bad here ,,enough to make you want to pull your hair out,,but like they say,,be cool and calm,,always,,just remember,,there,s always home,,hope you liked my opinion,,have a good one.
