what are the limits for mailing wine to Canada?

I want to mail a 1.5 liter bottle in a gift box to a friend

Definitely check with Canada Post:

However, it is completely possible that if they know you are sending wine to a friend, they won't allow it. That is why US wineries won't ship to Canadians. Too much red tape and chances are it won't make it to the final destination.
