We are looking for harmony, balance and stability, but what we are finding is that there are no simple answers to which these inquiries can be based on. The young see life as black and white, but age and maturity shows us that life is a big gray area which is very interpretive.

Physics Chemist and Nobel prize winner llya Prigogine wasn't talking about space. In his ground breaking book "Theory of Dissipative Structures" he was talking about systems. Human systems. Read some of it, its fun in a strange sort of way.

He's saying what was sought is found, but what is found was never sought.
They set out with the intention of finding governing laws of man and nature, places where there are mirrors between the two.
But what was found was inconsistency and instability.
But in reality the laws of instability were what were always being looked for.
Very existential. Fun stuff

It's talking about looking for patterns and finding chaos. It hints at man's tendency to impose patterns through expectation. The mind wants things to make sense, and they generally don't.

We want the universe to be simple and elegant but usually we find it to be complicated and random.

The simple wasn't quite so simple. Things are more complicated than they seemed.
