I consider myself an atheist, but I don't comment people with religion related questions and go "SHAME ON YOU! *ATHEIST QUOTE FROM THE NON-EXISTANT ATHEIST BIBLE* YOU SHOULD BE AN ATHEIST!"

And then Christians try to say that they accept people for who they are and stuff. I think that Christians should accept atheists for what they believe in. Atheists aren't devil-worshippers, don't necessarily have a lack of morals, and don't mean any harm to anyone.

Adherents of every ideology want others to agree with them and to cooperate with them to build a better world. Followers of all religions have stronger urge to convert people, because they believe that the teachings of their Prophets can lead to eternal life. This is normal and mostly beautiful at the first place, because every man who really feels the love of God cannot keep that love for his own self. If this is done moderately, gently, compassionately as in the beginning of the movement, then the hearers would happily and gratefully accept.
But, at the present time, there are so many beautiful things mixing with falsehood, cheating, fakeness on one hand, and lust for earthly vanities on the other, that man loses interest in hearing about spiritual things from his fellow-man! This situation is really sad.
The way out is from each individual man. The preacher should be aware of the allergy with fanaticism, coersion, hastiness; the hearer should give some sympathy, consideration, interest in something higher than the daily routine.
Things will change only when each person try to correct his own faults.
After all, human beings are not strangers but they are truly brothers and sisters in one family. Please rethink.

Christians are charged by "their" God to bring nonbelievers into the fold. It's a faith thing, we have it and you don't and we as believers and Christians just feel that you are a nonbeliever out of ignorance and it's our place to try to educate you. I'm a believer and a Christian and I don't think Atheist are devil-worshipers and I personally believe once I've said my piece and you reject or accept it, then whatever happens after that is between you and whatever higher power their may be. I know whats waiting for me and I'm happy with it. It makes living easier if you know what eternity holds for you. The Ten Commandments could be reduced to eight and there would be no reference to religion in them. They would be just eight good rules for civilization to live by. Think about it.

Sorry you had bad experiences with Christians who condemn. I would like to ask you some questions - if there was no creator, how did life come from non-living material? - does science change? Can scientist today mix a compound together and the result be life? Can a woman from the grave, conceive and bear children?

I know these questions sound stupid - but scientist proclaim that this world came from a big explosion - how come they have been unable to do the same?

It takes life to produce life - when you get a chance - check out my site - it discusses the Bible in detail:

ultimately I think its because every religion expects that everyone should have some kind of faith.. Each religion tries to tell others that their religion is better than the next... I say take your own journey in life, pay attention to the signs in front of you and who knows, maybe one day your decide to be a part of a religion.. I tried several religions due to this type of pressure in my 20's.. I can tell you that it didn't work. I found my own spiritual journey and my own beleifs based on my own life experience.. I don't think athiests lack faith.. I think that the absence of a religion gives you a chance to become your own person, not necessarily a follower.. And when I say "follower" i don't mean that in a dirogatory manner, I mean, that all religions have some type of leader, so therefor the disciples are followers...

Because they do not have the capacity to understand why you would be an Atheist. They have chosen to give up free thought. It is what their religion is based on, giving your self to God. It means no free thought, they let other do it for them, and in that they are told to push this belief onto others. It's sort of like a computer virus, religion does it's harm to the human brain by attacking the rational thought process, then in return the person feels obligated to pass on this virus, its a sort of self replicating dementia for the organic computer called the human brain.

Christians are sinners just like everyone else. If they lecture you and it's driving you away from God I believe that they will be held accountable by God for that.

They are trying to tell you about the truth of life. Which I won't bore you with because my guess is you have heard it 1000s of times.

Rest assured they press because they care. They push hard, probably because they are hard on themselves and because they care about you.

Accepting people for who they are has nothing to do with allowing them to continue in sin. Let me explain.

Suicide. Let's say that you know someone who is depressed and suicidal, they have been for years. They have tried and tried to be more positive and have a better outlook on life, but they just never do. Finally, they decide to kill themselves.

Now, you try and stop them and say, "Hey killing yourself isn't the answer!" Their response is "All I want to do is kill myself. It's just who I am. Why is this such a big deal to you? Just let me be, accept me for who I am and back off."

Are you going to say, "Oh, Cool. Well, if your OK with it, I'm cool with it. Later."

With Christians it's kind of the same thing. It's worse in some ways than the example, because at least the guy in the example knows that he's suicidal. So the analogy breaks down somewhere. But my point is less about the person committing suicide and more about your reaction to them.

Does this make any sense?

I hope so, and let me be the first to apologize on behalf of God for the way his children have treated you. Dad, would be disappointed in them.

Hey for what it's worth. God doesn't rely solely on Christians to reveal himself to people. He speaks to you directly. In those quiet moments in your heart, God speaks to you and tells you that he loves you. As I sit here and type this I feel that he is speaking to you right now, as you read this.

I pray that you would hear his voice and that despite the bitterness that you may feel towards Christians, you would come to know him.

He loves you.

Because they say that's what the Bible tells them to do. They just ignore the part about us all having free will when they bring it up. They say they have to do what the Bible tells them to do, so why dont they try accepting people for who they are, insteading of looking down on anyone who isnt Christian.

I normally don't lecture people unless they pepper me with a lot of questions.

It has been my personal experience that atheists try to convert ME to their point of view first. Or else that say something that I find annoying, like "You seem to be intelligent, how can you be a Christian?" Once someone has hurt my pride, I become defensive and have something to prove just like any other human.

And some of your Christian friends are probably worried that you are going to Hell, according to their belief. Maybe they are genuinely concerned for your welfare.

They are secretly or subconsciously insecure. And the greater their numbers the more comfortable they feel. It seems to validate them in their own minds. Some are motivated from the "charitable" urge to save nonbelievers from Hell. If the New Testament of the Bible is so full of love; what is this hell and damnation. An aspect of God's love?
Go figure.
Dan.
