Because it is the will of God whether we have children or not. By using birth control, we are telling Him we don't want Him to lead ouy lives, that we'll do as we please with regard to whether or not we have children.

Besides, God created sex specifically to procreate. Sex without marriage and the intention of allowing children into our lives is purely for our own satisfaction, and that is not what God intended sex for.

By the way, we can use a method known as 'natural family planning', in such circumstances as extrememly low finances, medical problems in which case it would be dangerous to become pregnant, etc.

Hope this helps!

I listened to a priest (Fr McCarthy, can't remember his first name) give a talk about birth control. He called it "a cancer" to the Church. According to McCarthy, birth control removes the worry of conception, thus making it easier for fornication and adultery to take place.

The Church says that when a married couple has sex, they must be open to bringing life into the world, so they can't prevent even one iota of it by practicing birth control. They are "playing God" so to speak.

Sex is for marriage, and it's for procreation recreation . It's an exchange of love, and the act itself is holy, it's a form of worship . If a married couple is very poor and can't afford (more) children, then it's wrong to expect them to practice sexual abstinence even within their marriage. There's nothing wrong with birth control, as long as you don't get sterilized. I totally disagree with Fr McCarthy and with the Catholic Church.

You're missing the whole point... We CAN'T allow 14-year-old girls to have sex. Then, they won't get pregnant, they won't get STD's, and the girl maintains a sense of dignity as a human person, not a sexual object of someone else's lust. Yes, birth control is wrong, but so is pre-marital sex. If you don't have pre-marital sex, then you don't need birth control. We have such a distorted view of sexuality today... it never ceases to amaze me.

Sex is not just meant to be fun, although He gave us that gift too. It is also supposed to be honorable.

Sex the way God envisioned it is a beautiful thing, and the love we feel for a partner is probably one of the most powerful experiences of love we have. It is a very scaled-down version of the love God felt for us when he created us. Because that noble emotion is most tangible and accessible when two people who love each other have sex, he chose those moments as the ones to invite us to become co-authors of his creation.

If you aren't willing to accept children, you are not attaining the state of love God intended. Instead you are rejecting your part of the creation story by rejecting your opportunity to be most like Him. When we decline God's invitations to be like him and to emulate his love, that is sin.

here is a cynical answer: Because if you don't allow your followers to use birth control, their birth rate goes up and then you have more little Catholics.
