1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
If an earnest seeker of the truth asked you this question I am asking, how well could you do? If you want to cite the Bible, then what explanation could you give to an unbeliever as to why the Bible should be believed? If you don't have a ready answer do you think that you should do some studying to be in obedience to the command that Peter lays out here?

OK, two answers so far. Faith? Based upon what? Saying that it is a gift from God, while true doesn't do much for an unbeliever who doesn't have that gift. What facts could you provide to support your faith?

When you believe it shows on you. I have had times in my life that I knew he took control of.He has shown his love for me by confirming a question I asked myself. There really is so much to tell but I will give you a short example. My son has trouble being around all the kids at school. He called me day after day to come pick him up.So this one time I went to the store, bought 2 chocolate milks and we sat in the field by the school. I was telling him that God is always with him, always. He went back into school.Success.In my mind I was singing the "lord of the dance" a christian song and I thought, Is God pleased with me.I went home and called my mom to tell her of the success. My brother woke from a sleep and came out of his room and told my mom to ask me about the "lord of the dance". God was pleased with me! He had my brother confirm my question.what a wonderful GOD.

Great question. I beleive the bible because it is by far the greatest book now and in the past. There is more manuscript evidence than any other book of antiquity. About over 2500 times more than any other. This book predicted many things in history that can't be denied. The greatest is the birth life and death of Gods own son. and oh yea His son't resurection.
Daily in my life I see how the words from it's pages are true in my life. Pride comes before fall, The meek shall inherrit the earth, Trust in The Lord with all your heart and He will direct your paths. ect

Years ago I thought I had all the answers. I regarded Christians as nice but sometimes annoying. I hardly ever talked to them and didn't believe in the bible, God or much of anything. Them when I thought I was going to lose my Son, I reluctantly turned to the last possible source for help. God answered. Now I see that I had turned away from so many opportunities that he had given me. I'm amazed and thankful that he didn't give up on my sorry butt. I see that his blessings are all around us,everywhere. They always were, but I was too blind to see them.

I have an answer, and I'm not going to quote the bible because it may take a long time to convince you that it is true. So what I will do is give a simple answer as to why I believe. First I believe that we are all sinners. Second since we are sinners we cannot be close to God when we die. Third our sin must be paid for and we can't do it ourselves because we're only human and too sinful. Fourth God sent his holy son to pay for our sins. Fifth all we have to do is believe in Jesus and our sins are put on him and they are paid for. We must continue in our faith and try to live a life worth being called christian but for now on our sins are forgiven as long as we confess them and ask for forgiveness. Thank you and may God bless you.

Originally, I came to Christ as a teenager buying "fire insurance." I just didn't want to go to hell. Later, although having confessed Christ, I fell away from Him for a time, and became quite a heathen.
At one point, I got into a bit of trouble, and sought after God. I was being the typical hypocrite, and just "broke the glass in case of emergency." I told God that if He got me out of the trouble, I would return to Him. He did it, and I had lied to Him. (He hates that, btw.)
Later, I was involved in another trial that ended up costing me my marriage. Yet, God was faithful. I was a completely broken man, and He tenderly ministered to my heart. Over time, He has restored me, and He has been faithful. I long to serve Him with a pure heart, and though I stumble from time to time, He lifts me up.
God has been completely true to His promise to me. He even gave me a Scripture that anchors me in the midst of the trials that do come my way. It is Isaiah 54:4-10.

I do study the Bible..and I enjoy it. However, I believe by faith. I've seen what a "work"...and the miracles He's done in my life. And thats enough for me. The Bible sure does an awesome job backing me up though.
Good luck in your search..and I hope you do find the truth.

Faith and the knowledge that HE will show you the way and give you answers..HE did for me.........I have always had faith and belief in HIM. When push came to shove, HE showed me just where the answer was and it wasn't where I thought it was. HE saved me from the traps and snares of the "devil". You know, you can't keep sinning over & over again, ask for forgiveness and expect to be forgiven just because you asked. You have to be sorry and repent for your sins and not keep repeating them. GOD is a loving, merciful, forgiving Being but HE is the wisest of all Beings, and HE knows all the answers and who HE will allow into paradise with HIM forever..........

Our hope comes from the life death and ressurection of Jesus Christ. He came from heaven, was made man, yet was God and lived and died for your sins (and mine). It is the ultimate act of grace (love we don't deserve).
We believe in something that is so beautiful and saves our souls in the future, and it is so good that it changes the way we view our "todays".
Said another way:
God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son so that all who believe in Him might not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

To a believer...no explanation is necessary....to a non-believer no explanation is possible. I know what is in my heart. I have worshipped in many different houses of God and celebrated with many different religions...and I found an answer to the emptiness that was in my heart. I won't quote the Bible.....although I could. I know when I walked through the darkest times of my life, I reached out to God and He was there in a very real way. I mean when I was going through my divorce (my husband was a batterer) and they were about to foreclose on my house (he is also a dead-beat dad) there was money made available to me. Only God could have orchestrated the perfect timing of that miracle. As a matter of fact, during the entire process of my divorce (5 and 1/2 years) I never walked so close to My Lord who protected my children and I from so many unseen problems. Looking back with experience and wisdom, I now see the many ways things could have been destroyed...but we were safe. The last example I can share with you is the night my dad died of a massive coronary. My Dad was 44, it was 1am and we were summoned to the hospital....I remember walking into the ICU and my Dad was fighting for his life...we were asked to step outside and he passed. The doctor/nurses called us in to see him and my Dad who had been attached to machines was lying peacefully with a smile on his face. My mother was first and she physically could not walk into the room. She described a feeling of being stopped. She felt the presence of God and she felt my Dad ask her if it was ok....could he go? She answered in her heart, yes.....and immediately we could enter...and she screamed,"NO"! Later she described the moment as a moment that belonged to God.....I think your questions are better answered in your heart. You and I could argue semantics and the Bible all night long....that's not who God wants to be in your life. He wants a relationship. He wants to be in a relationship with you. That means prayer (talking to Him) and listening to Him in your heart. When you know it is true in your heart...you won't need to challenge believers. Ask Him to enter your heart and ask Him all your questions...He will answer...He will make Himself real to you. Open your heart.
