watcht it on ur first day of school, there will be 10 out of 40 people in ur class will have them

and u can wear them color band too....like red and green for the christmas........etc

i had it and half of the jocks and cheerleaders had them too when i was in h.s.
if u never heard of them u should ask ur local denest and ask him why u don't have it

Your popularity depends far more on the frequency of your smile than what it looks like.

In any case even back when braces were hideous metal wires and rivets on my teeth I was cute and had friends. That was age 10-13. Then in high school I can't imagine any of my many friends even thinking about what my teeth looked like!

Popular actually means two different things. 'popular,' like the kids at school that you call popular, aren't necessarily all well-liked-- or happy. That is really only one group out of many: 'jocks' , 'brains', 'grits', whatever they are all called where you live. When I got to high school I learned that there is a much better meaning of popular, the original meaning, which is simply having a lot of different people like you, or having a lot of friends. My friends were from all groups because I was nice to everyone, so I was very popular. And the 'popular' kids in my class? Some of them wanted to keep that cliquey status, and found themselves with fewer and fewer friends, certainly few real friends. Others realized they weren't better than everyone else and actually made friends.

My advice? Smile at everyone, make friends with anyone at all, and don't worry about who you aren't friends with.

One thing to remember: If somebody is mad at you, they might try to hurt you by making fun of your braces. That only means they know you feel uncertain, not that your braces are ugly or even that noticeable. If you were a tiny bit plump they would call you fat; if you had 3 zits they would call you pizza-face-- wherever they think it will hurt because you would be uncertain. Their reward is your hurt/angry reaction. Don't give them one!

It is quite popular to have braces where I live. It is a status symbol here. Most of the middle schoolers I know have braces and are popular.

Yeah, of course. Being popular isn't nessisarily always a good thing though. People should like you for your personality, but if they don't and they want you to be someone that you're not, then you probably don't want them to like you that much. And keep in mind, there are a lot of "popular" people that NO ONE likes. They may suck up to them, but they don't really like the "popular" people.... they talk all kinds of trash behind those people's backs. Even your so call ''best friends.'' In fact, I was at the mall today and I heard some girls that looked like preppy little popular girls saying that they were going to "dump their loser friends." If they would say something like that, then their probably not really friends. So you shouldn't want to be one of those people anyways.

Yes. My husband works with a young man who recently got braces and it hasn't hurt his "social status" one bit. But you really shouldn't worry about things like that. People should like you for who you are and not care if you have braces, wear glasses, etc.

I think so, I know alot of girls who want them because it is the "in" thing right now. And if your not popular with them , wait till your teeth are perfect then you will be for sure.
