No animals in Moses' Tabernacles. The Tabernacles (eleven of them, in fact) were used overtly to transport the bodily remains of eleven of the twelve "patriarchs" (Joseph's body was interred in state tomb, and could not be removed). Additionally, the exiles used the reverence of the Egyptians towards such remains to smuggle out a variety of literary treasures out of Egypt in those tabernacles.
During the Babylonian exile, the decision was made to "sanitize" the Torah of all the Egyptian influences, including those references, so the idea of the Ten Commandments, patterned on the Laws of Hammurabi, was inserted.
