To rule out the cause of pain.
And for this an emergency visit to a dentist is the best.
Taking pain killers on your own is never wise, cause that at many times masks off the real symptoms that can be important leads to a diagnosis.
Don't be your own doctor...Trust a dentist to help you get rid of the pain.

I have 2 children and 1 on the way. The absolute worst pain I've ever been in was when I had nerve pain due to a horrible toothache. No joke. A normal toothache, no big deal but I don't think anything could be worse than nerve pain. ETA: I've never gone through labor without an epidural so I can't compare those 2.

Vicodin, and over the counter, ambasol. The only thing for a toothache is a root canal. Get to a dentist cause toothaches only get worse and they can be serious because your tooth roots can be infected and affect your heart.

CHECK OTC PRODUCTS AT YOUR DRUGSTORE!

See DENTIST ASAP!

Toothaches are a sign that there may be more to worry about then just a little pain. The causes of toothache are several but the major causes are, dental cavity, a cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. It is possible for the cause of a toothache to originate from an entirely different problem such as heart attack or angina but this is quite rare. It can be noted however that some patients suffering angina will show toothache or jaw pain as the only symptoms so it is always best to let your dentist or doctor evaluate you.
