And isn't he short one "Angel of the Dawn", Angel of Light" and "Master Musician"? Is that why we're down to rap music?

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

And your "Biblical definition of an angel" is ...?

Hebrew (Old Testament)
mal'âk, mal-awk', From an unused root meaning to despatch as a deputy; a messenger; specifically of God, that is, an angel (also a prophet, priest or teacher): - ambassador, angel, king, messenger.

Greek (New Testament)
aggelos, ang'-el-os, From ἀγγέλλω aggellō (probably derived from G71; compare G34; to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an “angel”; by implication a pastor: - angel, messenger.

God creates as God creates. Every creation God makes is perfect in His design. He created us with a free will, that goes for the angels as well.

If God gives most of his creation free will - then it's entirely possible that God could create something perfect with the choice to chose an imperfect existence.

What Don H said is truly fascinating. Though I am of Catholic faith, it has been in my thoughts that in some way, Satan/Lucifer/TheDevil is moreso working to help preserve the balance of good and evil (much like the Yin and Yang) rather than being the Harbinger of Chaos as what most perceive it today. I do not know, nor understand how or why Satan/Lucifer/TheDevil is implied as such, but I do know that seeing them as the embodiment of true evil is magnified thanks to the writing 'Dante's Inferno'.

Our creator did not create robots, he created the angels perfect...'A FREE MORAL AGENT" one who can choose to do good or bad or better yet, he can think and do things on his own. Angels don't pluck on harps or have any junk music in heaven, angels are messengers of our creator.

Interesting what Don H said, yet that conflicts with the whole book of Job, a book found both in the Tanakh and Bible. In Job, Job is constantly tempted by Satan and suffers many ailments along with the loss of his family to Satan. In both books, the Tanakh and Bible, Satan challenges God-
Tanakh-
11 But put forth Thy hand now, and touch all that he hath, surely he will blaspheme Thee to Thy face.'

12 And HaShem said unto Satan: 'Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand.' So Satan went forth from the presence of HaShem

NIV
11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

compare the story in both books- http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Bible/Jobtoc.html

And well, you may be 'perfect' with beautiful wings and pretty colors, but if you choose wrong, you must pay the penalty. Pride overtook Satan and that was the cause for his fall. Just as Steve said, God did create Satan with freewill.

technically all angels could be considered "imperfect" by the inclusion of CHOICE in their natures. god gave the angels, including lucifer, choice. and lucifer used this choice to rebel.

God can't be considered with suggestions from the human eye. yet His eternal ability and divine personality are conventional and obviously considered with suggestions from the failings He has made. the actual incontrovertible reality that God can't be considered does no longer recommend He can't be conventional. yet, in case you've been to look on the order of issues as being held in keeping with suggestions from the author, who created all issues, you could commence to verify the God, who develop into and is beneficial adequate to create this kind of eye-catching position even even if He can't be considered rapidly. Now faith is the reassurance of issues develop into hoping for, the conviction of issues no longer considered. For with suggestions from it the adult males of previous gained approval. with suggestions from faith you do not forget that the international with each and every eye-catching creation develop into prepared with suggestions from the recognize God, so as that what's considered develop into no longer made from issues that are seen...!

I don't think anyone knows the answer to this. When Satan fell, one third of the angels went with him. There is a lot of music I think is inspired by Satan.
