No, it makes them victims of Syria's and Iran's oppressive control of their country through fear and terror.

The lebonese govt. is fairly new. Syria was playing a hand in there for quite a while, and pulled out fairly recently. There was a civil war in the 80's that left the place fairly unstable until recently. There are members of Hizboallah in their governement. Because they are a new govt...they are disparate. Lebenon is unlike other countries in the region surrounding it...there are Christians and Muslims. They also tend to have a more liberal populace because of this.

Unfortunatly at the end of the war there were still radical groups, like Hizbollah that had a lot of power, backed by countries that want to eradicate Israel and take over Lebenon. It was a powder keg waiting to happen. Personally, I am not surprised this is going on.

As far is do they deserve this? I don't know...it is hard to keep perspective when feelings are involved. If there is a way to do this peacefully, that would be great. I just don't think there is. But that is just my opinion. No one deserves to have innocent die on either side of a conflict. It is too bad armies can't fight wars in football arenas...with two willing sides of combatants instead of getting joe citizen involved.

Lebanon has a weak government, and may not have been able to disarm Hezbollah, or silently sanctioned their actions and intentions.
Your average Lebanese probably does not deserve it. But is seems that everyone over there hates some one enough to try and do harm to them, or look the other way if some one else does. The children are indeed innocents, but the adults on all sides are not innocent in the same fashion as one might think of in our country or Switzerland, etc. It would appall most of us to have some one lobbing rockets into Canadian cities, but over there, people who might not do it themselves, do not seem to mind that their neighborhood is used as a launching pad for Israeli civilian targets.

That depends whether or not they can. I don't know that they would have been able to stop Hezbollah even if they had tried. You could argue that they should have tried anyway, and they definitely could have done something. But Lebanon as it is now has only recently achieved true independence. I don't think the Lebanese government and military are strong enough to have gone up against Hezbollah. They had no choice but to allow Hezbollah to do what it wants, otherwise they would have faced civil war.

That said, I also don't think they would have stopped Hezbollah even if they could. But I could be wrong about that.

yes it does. If you know about a raping and don't stop it does that make you just as wrong? yes. Lebanon cannot even control their own country. They want the world to treat them like a real country but they don't wanna act like a real country. They allowed Hezbollah to act however it wanted and now they are getting exactly what they deserve. The people could have easily put down Hezbollah but they didn't want to they support them. When you support a terrorist you are a terrorist now reap your reward as Israel lays justice down onto your terrorist nation.

Hezballah joined the Lebanese government (cabinet) last summer. Lebanon gave the Palistinians a place to live, same thing happend with them. They gave them a place to live then Yasser Arafat and his people took advantage and turned part of the country into terrorist training grounds. Finally leaving. So, its not like Hezbollah is unique there. Lebanon has been there, done that and has chosen to allow it again.

Civilians never deserve to die. As with every country on Earth, the majority of citizens are good people trying to live like you and me...at least me. It is well known that the Lebanese government was a struggling democracy with very little resources to develop a strong political system to expel the Hezbollah. Its like having a bad neighbor. He has the right to exist, but it takes a lot of resources to get him to move out. I think for peace to exist, we have to invent ways to make it difficult for these organization to exist. The country of Lebanon is/was western in nature, but it seems a small minority has caused great harm on the majority of peaceful citizens. Anyhow the Lebanese do not deserve this. They have families and children like all of us. They go to work and have dreams like anyone else. Please consider this before you demonize an entire culture....this is was Hitler did...your are doing the same thing.

Agreed,

They were ordered by the UN to disarm Hezbollah but did not do it. They are chanting for Hezbollah to kill all of Israel and all Americans. It is our fault if we put a bad one in office like GWB and if we back him like we have been and he starts a war that we can not handle then it is our fault. We should have marched on his office and kicked his @ss out. Same for Lebanon should have kicked Hezbollah out of the country if they did not want them to start a war.

They started it and someone has to finish it. The fighting should not end till he is dead and his army is eradicated.

The United States government is aware of terrorist groups in their country and does nothing about them.

Street Gangs, Neo Nazis, etc.

Does that make them terrorists?

Now we're thinking!

Taking it to the next step, since Iran and Syria subsidize Hezbollah and Hammas, shouldn't Israel and the U.S. declare war on those countries, like the U.S. did against Afghanistan?

Let me see, if in my neighborhood, I knew I had terrorist hiding in a underground locatin between my house and the one next door, or if they were hiding in my neighbrors garage.

And I knew the enemy was bombing these types of hidden sites. and I am not smart enough to run, why are these people not swarming out of these areas, because perhaps it is thier father, husband, uncle that are the terrorist,
