Most department stores will not let you shop or enter the store
without some type of shoe, sneaker or sandal on. It doesn't matter
if you are male or female, its not accepted. A beach snackbar
or something of that nature on the beach is probably okay but I
do not see that happening even in a little corner neighborhood store anymore. For your own health , its not a good idea either, you can pick up so much these days , bacteria diseases and other fungus.

Girls wouldn't do it for sure. Norms make it ugly for girls to do it too. Well, if you felt okay with it, then it was ok. If you felt uneasy, then you shouldn't have. People who live in a black-in-white world would call something surprising as "weird". But i don't. You have good exercise of your freewill. I say "good" assuming you didn't poke the eyes of the kid who was staring at you thinking Hulk really has no shoes!

I am surprised you got by with that. All the stores I know don't allow it, one reason is for fear of being sued if someone steps on something and gets hurt.. I would never do that any way, its just nasty, and not safe... Get some flip flops, or sandals. That's better then going with nothing on your feet..

it's a little bit weird because it's not culturally acceptable, apparently. however, it's not against the law, any health code, OSHA regulation (they do nothing for customers, only employees), and it's certainly less dangerous than some types of shoes.

When I see people with no shoes on (excluding beaches and pools) I always think they are derelicts who can't afford thongs.

What about all the germs you are walking on? Ew.

Most stores will not let you enter if you don't have shoes on since it's a health and liability issue.

And I guess it would depend on what color your toenails were painted.

I guess it wouldn't be if you were in 1940"s Bentonville Arkansas and were wearing overalls, straw hat and sucking on a piece of straw.

Not if you don't mind having your toes stubbed by the carts, or having someone tell you that bare feet violate store rules.

I don't know about weird, but it is illegal to be without shoes or shirt where food is sold.

I think it's weird if anybody does it. Equally weird between the sexes, I don't pick favourites.
