off of work to get your stuff done. And we are trapped, it's not like they have any competition and any reason to make their service more convenient. Same deal with most banks...but luckily electronic banking has helped that a lot. Still no way around the fricking DMV's most inconvenient hours!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know about the mail/online thing, but until they invent a way to get an emissions test online, you still have to visit the DMV in some capacity around here.

Good question there!
Luckily in Massachusetts our RMV is getting a little better - you can usually do most simple things by mail or online (such as registration renewals and such), and when you do have to visit a registry branch they actually have a nice paging and number system to divide up the tasks people have to do, which usually gets you out in less than an hour (even on busy days). Also, you can do just about everything in one place too.
I've heard horror stories from other states though - and as much as I can gripe about a lot of things in Massachusetts that suck, that's really one thing I can't say anything but good stuff about!
Hopefully your state government wakes up about your DMV problems and gets a better system in there soon!

You don't have to take a full day of work off. Explain your situation to yuor boss, and he or she should understand. If the DMV opens at 9:00 am then go the day before either before or after work and pick up the documents you need, fill them out and get to the dmv as early as you can that way you will be ready and can get out A.S.A.P. Don't forget to bring the exact amount of cash and or a check to pay...
Good luck. Dan

well they are the same in texas, that's because it's mostly illegal hispanics at that place and they don't work during the day really. So they have all the time in the world to sit in hour long lines at the DMV.

Some DMV's are allowing for certain transactions to occur online. This varies from state to state.

The people there work normal hours, the same hours that almost everyone else works at. It makes sense, even though it is inconvenient.
