Tell the landlord that unless action is taken immediately, you will call the cops and ask them to visit. That's fair warning. You have been very patient, but they are playing with your patience and now you have to do something more aggresive. If you do not get satisfaction after you have discussed this with the landlord, then simply call the police the next time it happens.
Have any of your friends or relatives been around when this happened? It might be useful to have a witness, although the police will investigate anyway. Your complaint is real, and you have written a sincere question here, so it is obvious that you have been very patient and that your concerns are real. Something has to be done. So, either a) the landlord does something after your next warning, or b) if he does not, then you have to
call the police.
I've had to do it before too and once the landlord knows you mean business, he will take you more seriously. Stick up for your rights. You deserve it.
Good luck -- and enjoy your upcoming peace & quiet.

When I read your question I was hoping you owned the place that would be easy. You need to insist that your landlord act on your complaint by sending them a registered letter. You have a right as a tenant to peace and quite. If you are forced to move, state in writing to the landlord why you are leaving and make sure things are in good shape so he can't withhold your security for leaving early. Good Luck

Try playing something really obnoxious like classical , perhaps Wagner, something with cannons and drums, or maybe bagpipes, yeah that would be cool very loudly next time they start up, then leave and catch a movie. Maybe calling your landlord or the police would be the mature thing to do. But i do like the idea of bagpipes.

Say this,"Hi,listen. Every weekend I have to come up here and politely ask you to turn down your bass, which you do, but I'm tired of it. Now you seem like very nice people so it's with a heavy heart that I'm saying If I have to come up here one more time there will be no words there will only be a bat.....Okay? Thanks again, Have a good night.

My elderly neighbor took care of the kids across the street (who pumped up the obscene rap music) by blasting marching band music on his record player.
They got the point after about the tenth rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In."

Put your stereo speakers on your dining room table facing the ceiling, turn up the stereo as loud as you can, and then go stay with a friend for a couple days. Desperate times call for desperate measures. A friend of mine did this, and it solved his problem.

Just call the police. Call it in as a noise disturbance. You've been nice enough. They're just trying to placate you by being nice. But if they're doing the same thing that you compained about, they're not really as nice as they seemed.

You have to get the land lord to do his job. You should not have to be going up there. Absolutely insist that the land lord handle this issue.
If it is really bad at the time and the land lord is not available call the cops.

keep calling the police eventually they will turn it down or the landlord will evict them (landlords hate to have thier property listed as a high crime property)
