Noel said he wrote it for his wife at the time, Meg. Wonderwall is a 1969 movie which George Harrison provided the soundtrack for.
Not 100% on the meaning, but thats what I found, hopefully it helps!

I love that song...
I haven't payed that much attention to the lyrics... I love watching the record turn and turn on the video!
I found this online, maybe it can help you: "think that "wonderwall" means something like he always wondered about her and what they could be but there was a wall between him and her so they said wonderwall". How's that?

Yeah Wonderwall was a George Harrison movie (as previously mentioned). It was about two apartment neighbours who talked to each other through a hole in the wall....hence "Wonderwall"
