IMO they can. I dont see what is wrong with having fun if you are a christian. the two arent against each other. mind you soe of the words in the rap music is against the christian views and i turn them off.
each church is different on its opinion of this. IMO it isnt what you are exposed to.it is what you do with it.

Wow.
Yes, Christians can go to parties. They can also listen to music. Of course, a Christian's idea of what makes a "party" or what is "music" might be different from yours. I've heard some very cool rap, and R&B has been around for a very long time. I've not heard any good "hip hop" yet, though. Could be I've just not been exposed to the right stuff.
Remember, too, that not everyone who calls themselves "Christian" actually are disciples of Christ.
Make no mistake, bad company corrupts good manners.
And again:
Do not be deceived. God is not mocked.

I'd say be careful what you associate yourself with as a Christian. 1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity"
1 Corinthians 10:23 "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive."
Also, these kinds of music are ok, as long as they are not contrary to the word of God. Garbage in, garbage out. If you listen to things that speak death (drugs, dealin', drinking, cussing, etc.), that is what you will think about. I can suggest some really great Christian Rap, Hip-Hop & R&B... (Cross Movement, KJ52, Grits, tobyMac, John Reuben... there's a lot more too... great music that lifts up God's name...)

As an older Roman Catholic (christian) I only can say:
OF COURSE!! PARTY ON!! Religous people have been partying for hundreds of years.
Of course rereading your question - I see you maybe want to know about EXCESSIVELY sexual and drinking alcohol and worse(?) type parties.
Well then I'd say that doing anything in a deminished state of awareness is bad. Jumping out of a plane without a shute - you can do it - but who would want to ????
Don't be conned into doing something to be COOL that you KNOW is not cool. Being young you can rack up the regrets pretty fast, but listening to music, NOT loosing control whats wrong with that? Staying true to yourself, and family will be difficult - but very rewarding.

The answer is Yes, there are some great Christian banmds ou there in every style of music. As for going to parties, I am a Christian biker, my older brother is an outlaw biker. He is with a club called the Warlock. Myself and 2 of my friends were invited to go to a support party their club was having. We were the only Christians there. They had us there to check us out and to see if we were really what we said we are. All the saw was bikers who live life just a little bit different from them.
They found out that we are not what they thought and they respect us as well as we respect them.

As long as nothing ungodly is happening at the party.
Rap? If you listen to the lyrics of rap songs, 99% of the time they are sinful and ungodly. It is full of profanity, it degrades women, it talks about drugs, shooting, killing, sex, money. It is full of garbage and sends bad messages. I don't care what anyone says, lyrics do influence people. If you do not agree with the lyrics you shouldn't be listening to it. The lyrics in the large majority of rap music is bad.

It depends....social gatherings are perfectly fine....drunken parties are not....Rap, Hip Hop and R&B can all be listened to, as long as the content does not contradict your beliefs.

God never said not to have fun, just be careful what you do. Dancing and attending a party is not a sin but becoming alcoholic and indulging in drugs and fornication is. As far as music goes, it's your decision but listen to the message and if it't negative I wouldn't listen to that particular song.

From Matthew 14
Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.
- - as a follower of Christ we are called not to make our "brother" (or sister!) stumble. If what we do offends someone, then we should not do it. Following Christ is growth just like life, we all make mistakes, we all strive to do better. In the end only what God says matters.
