Does it matter if I believe or don't believe in the idea "scientific theory of man made or human assisted climate change causing a net increase in the global temperature with possible catastrophic affect:"?

I believe that I live on a planet. Duh !
Another NO DUH is that it is the only planet like it in the solar system.
The only planet that can support life as we know it.

I believe that the planet is about 8000 miles in diameter ( it is actually quite a bit less about 7925 @ the equator & 7900 pole to pole )

This makes for about 200 million square miles TOTAL surface area or 60 million square miles 'dry land' including areas like the Sahara and Antarctica. (using the equation 4 times radius squared times Pi for the total area and that times 3 tenths for the 'land' area)

With about 6 billion people that comes to about 100 people per square mile of 'dry land' on average or about 30 people per sq. mi. total surface area

I think it is well within possibility that a 100 people or even 30 people on a square mile could and would have an affect on that piece of land.

If these took care of that land and took no more than it could give then they would or could live in harmony with that piece of land indefinatly assuming that there numbers did not increase past a point of the lands ability to sustain them.

I believe that some people are greedy and care about nothing but their own self,
They truly do not care if the planet or fisheries or the land dies or is harmed past the point of recovering as long as it is in their interests or they are not harmed by it in the near term as long as they profit.

I believe that these people would say and do anything to discredit anyone or any message that got in the way of them or their self interests.

I believe that humans have destroyed large sections of land in the past due to their actions and inactions.

Do I believe i n 'global warming"? Does it matter what I believe in?

Do you believe that you live on a planet and what actions you take can and do make some impact , even if it is a small impact, on the planet?

Do you believe that 100 million greedy ,self centered, egotistical arrogant , narcissistic, gluttonous, materialistic. money-grubbing, rapacious, fascist , imperious, totalitarian, oppressive,.... republicans have a detrimental, injurious, hurtful affect on the planet that all of us depend upon for all of our needs and wants.

Does it matter what you or I BELIEVE in ?

In terms of eco-change, the Earth does go through drastic changes and gradual changes because the Earth's climate has never been stable in the first place. So there will be more ice ages, monster droughts and massive floods in the eons to come. The current question is whether human activity affecting the climate.

Well it used to be argued that dancing around a fire could cause rain. Since most of the Native American tribes are nearly wiped out, maybe that is why 60% of the US is suffering a drought.

Another theory was that CFCs were eating up the ozone layer and increasing the hole over the Arctic regions. Well they banned most of the CFCS despite business interests, and that hole is shrinking.

Now can you spot which one is cause-and-effect and which is coincidence? If you make the right choice, then you are on the right track to a well informed opinion on the matter.

By the way, I know that human activity is affecting the environment ever since we wiped out the dodos, created a 51 mile long canal through Panama, infected every US citizen with PFOA, and virtually wiped out polio while creating a global epidemic of HIV. Ever since the Garden of Eden and the Tower of Babel, God has a way of making people face the consequences of their actions. So it is rather ironic that Republican conservatives dismiss this "junk science" and ignore the signs.

Yes, The glaciers of the world are being melted and there are pictures that prove this. Humans mess everything in the world up (oil spills, cutting down trees, other pollution) to name a few. Global warming is not just a crazy theory. There is plenty of evidence to show that human growth and industry has a direct correlation to the problems of global warming. Search the internet for more info.

you're precise to be skeptical. The Ozone hollow became baloney. there became a volcanic eruption interior the pacific for the period of the Ozone hollow scare. That eruption created a hollow interior the Ozone layer greater than the only the scientist have been observing. interior of many years the ambience recovered. end. The Ozone scare allowed Chemical agencies to end generating Freon, at a pair of pennies in line with pound and sell the hot stuff which isn't as effective (makes use of greater ability) and value money a pound. i became in college in 1975 the subject then. Ice age. ok it did no longer happen yet one ingredient hasn't replaced the main well-liked twelve months on checklist is stilll interior the 1930's. If international temperatures have been at as quickly as increasing through CO2 emissions from human events the main well-liked twelve months on checklist could be 2007. the actual information isn't consistent with the fashions predicting a run away greenhouse effect. truly the conventional international temperature has been falling for the final 3 years. possibly we are able to slip into an ice age.

I definitely and strongly believe that we are now facing a great problem in our environment. Being a concern citizen of my country, PHILIPPINES, I see the evidences. Every morning, I see a dark smoke or fog at least 500 feet from the ground to the sky.

You know what, guys, we have to act now. Be responsible enough. Currently, I am an officer in our school fighting for environment. And it's really hard to tell everybody that we must act and do something. We've been to many campaigns, but still. Not enough to cure what we've done to our earth.

Time will come, there will be no place for our future children. Please guys. Do something. Let us help our mother earth.

Of course not. The ice caps are melting because of fairy dust, not this ridiculous "green house effect"!

But seriously, no, it's happening. That's a fact. And no, it's not natural.

Here's a good website that addresses the common dismissals people use to try and claim that global warming doesn't exist or isn't important:

No, if you look back in history it is clear to me that weather has always maintained certain cycles. Not much has convinced me that their is such a thing as global warming. Its just another way in which mankind actually believes that they are in control of the ultimate destiny of the earth. Sorry, I believe that the person who created the heavens and the earth, Jesus Christ has things very much under His control! And that is what I rest in! O.K. am done.

The earth has gone through a period like this many times before, the reason for this being that the earth has cycles where it passes closer to the sun than usual every so many hundred years.

Absolutely. I am quite certain there's certain truth behind a theory like that. I'm even certain that it might be happening anytime and the reason why it was not publicised, they don't want us to panic too much thats why they gave us a date which falls after we all pass on.
