Unfortunately, if you dare to argue any of the many valid reasons against illegal immigration and amnesty, you will be called names and faced with a myriad of nonsensical excuses (from the pro-illegal alien crowd and their lobbyists):
1.Tradition:
MYTH: As George Bush said: "We are a land of immigrants". We can not pull up the drawbridge now, unless we dismantle the Statue of Liberty. Otherwise, we are all hypocrites.
TRUTH: This is a common ploy. Yes, we are a land of immigrants. Mostly legal. We are enriched by legal immigration; not by massive, uncontrolled, illegal immigration.
2.Economics:
MYTH: The U.S. will crumble without illegal aliens. We need immigrants to pay the Social Security of the Baby Boomers when they begin to retire. Immigrants do jobs citizens won’t do. Who would pick our produce? Who would make the beds and wash the dishes?
TRUTH: This is a common myth, since illegal aliens are costing U.S. tax payers a net loss of at least $70 billion

3.Humanitarianism:
MYTH: You are selfish to put the needs of poor citizens ahead of more desperate people in other nations, by denying them entry into our country. The U.S. is obligated to share with others. Large-scale immigration is a significant way for the U.S. to help the impoverished people of the world.
TRUTH: It is also selfish to forget to show compassion for your fellow citizens that go without because illegal aliens have stolen from and burdened our welfare, Medicaid, education, healthcare, hospital, E.R., Medicare, Social Security, law enforcement, prison, insurance, and voting systems.
4.Diversity:
MYTH: Increasing diversity through immigration is necessary to be true to our civil rights principles. Opposition to illegal immigration is racist. We are obligated to accommodate millions of immigrants per year because our strength is our diversity; the diversity of immigrants made America great. And, Christopher Columbus was the first illegal alien,

and we stole the land from the Indians.
TRUTH: That is the old stand-by. You are a racist. However, race has nothing to do with it since illegal aliens are of all races from all over the world. Diversity is good, but massive, uncontrolled, illegal immigration itself leads to racism due to chaos, societal disorder, resentments, and increased competition for a slice of a shrinking pie.
Irredentism:
MYTH: We have no right to secure U.S. borders, because U.S. borders are illegitimate to start with. The U.S. really belongs to the Indians and other neighboring nations, to start with.
TRUTH: This is another lame argument. If you want to use that logic, we should all give back all of our nations to the original inhabitants, or their ancestors. This lame argument is just one of many that demonstrate how weak all of the pro-illegal alien arguments are.
Cornucopianism:
MYTH: The free market and technology will save us. We are the land of plenty. Besides,

we need illegal aliens to grow out of our massive debt problems. They will become new tax payers, and we can grow our way out of debt.
TRUTH: Even if that were true, does it justify using an under-paid underclass to remedy our debt problems? This simply does not make sense, since illegal aliens are costing U.S. taxpayers net losses of over $70 billion per year.
Globalism:
MYTH: We live in a global economy now, requiring new global solutions. Securing the U.S. borders is futile, since it is inadequate to deal with globalization.
TRUTH: With increasing competition abroad, growing corporatism and corpocrisy, an increasingly irresponsible, bought-and-paid-for, elitist government, we can not grow, tax, or immigrate enough to eliminate our fiscal problems.
Practicality:
MYTH: It is not possible to deport 12+ million illegal aliens.
TRUTH: There is no need to deport illegal aliens. We can help deport those that volunteer to be deported, but once the magnets are

This issue isn't really amnesty. It's how severely you punish someone for skipping the paperwork.
There are basically two ends of the spectrum. One says that not registering is like driving without car insurance. The penalty, assuming you've done nothing else illegal, should be paying a fine, paying your back taxes, and then filling out the proper paperwork to become a documented alien.
The other end of the spectrum says that not registering should be a felony, like stealing a car, and grounds for permanent and immediate deportation. Not only that, anyone who helped the undocumented alien should also be guilty of a felony.
Personally, I prefer the first approach. It's simpler, solves the documentation problems, let's people keep their jobs, and provides revenues just like any other taxpayer.
And it's not possible to deport 12 million people. We don't have the resources, manpower, or the ability to keep them out if they want to try and come back. But starting from a rational place now, allowing those who've already been here several years to stay assuming they've done nothing else wrong (see option one), is doable. That means deporting just the recent ones and those who have a criminal record (other than failing to register). Much more manageable.

Girl you are wayyyyyyyyyyy flat out of your mind !!!
I think that you found that article and inverse the truth and myth crap.
70 billion in losses, any country with 70 billion in losses could not be the richest country in the world.
illegal aliens are here and they're gonna stay, theres no way the goverment can deport 20 million people that would be impossible and the funds for that would be extremely out of goverment budget.
So instead of talking crap what they should do is secure borders if they really want security

illegal immigration proponents is that those who enter the U.S. by breaking the law are invariably "hard-working" and "law-abiding" once they get here.
1. That argument, however, has one major flaw. According to Justice Department statistics and the analysis of immigration experts, the "law-abiding" claim often isn't true.
As Investors Business Daily reported in March 2005:
"The U.S. Justice Department estimated that 270,000 illegal immigrants served jail time nationally in 2003. Of those, 108,000 were in California. Some estimates show illegals now make up half of California's prison population, creating a massive criminal subculture that strains state budgets and creates a nightmare for local police forces."
Citing an Urban Institute study, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies Steven Camorata noted in 2004: "Roughly 17 percent of the prison population at the federal level are illegal aliens. That's a huge number since illegal aliens only account for about 3 percent of the total population."
1. Former California Gov. Pete Wilson places the percentage of illegal aliens in U.S. prisons even higher. In 2001, he told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly:
"We had problems related to the costs of educating children who were acknowledged to be in the country illegally, healthcare costs. One in five in our prison population were illegal immigrants who had been convicted of a felony after entering the country illegally."
The Federation for American Immigration Reform also turned to the Justice Department to get statistics on criminal aliens. They report:
"In March 2000, Congress made public Department of Justice statistics showing that, over the previous five years, the INS had released over 35,000 criminal aliens instead of deporting them. Over 11,000 of those released went on to commit serious crimes, over 1,800 of which were violent ones [including 98 homicides, 142 sexual assaults, and 44 kidnaping].
"In 2001, thanks to a decision by the Supreme Court, the INS was forced to release into our society over 3,000 criminal aliens [who collectively had been convicted of 125 homicides, 387 sex offenses, and 772 assault charges]."
1. Up to a third of the U.S. federal prison population is composed of non-citizens, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons statistics - but not all non-citizen prison inmates are illegal aliens.
As to the "hard-working" claim, CIS notes: "The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 24.5 percent compared to 16.3 percent for native households."
Investor's Business Daily concurs: "Once [illegals] get here, they are 50 percent more likely to be on welfare than citizens."
