It's fine. As long as you keep what you believe in, in your head - it's okay.
don't worry what other people think - this is your decision, but you still have your beliefs.
I'm Wiccan, and my family is catholic. When my grandfather died, I got the crucifix from his casket after the ceremony - and it still hangs on my wall. Not because I believe in it's meaning - but as a symbol.

AND IGNORE "BOB L" HE'S OBVIOUSLY BRAINWASHED.
It's okay. Pictures and statues have no religious meaning if you don't believe in the religious meaning.
I don't know why people don't understand that. It's like they think the statue or picture will change their mind, or they're afraid of it or something. Be a human, enjoy the materials you enjoy. Don't let your beliefs over-take your every day life. It may be the basics of your life - but it shouldn't take it over.

What does being Catholic mean to you? If you are Catholic, which is Christian, you worship no other God and you will not have any graven images or idols. From God's Ten Commandments. Why would you want an idol in your house? Do you think Buddha can help you more than God? I am not putting Buddhist down, but you need to pick which path you are going down. If you are following God, then no Buddha, if you are going to be a Buddhis, then you are not a Catholic. You can't have it both ways.

I figure many Catholic's will tell you it is wrong to have a statue of Buddha in your house. But, Buddha was a teacher, not a "God". He is admired for his teachings, and now days in Buddhism there are so many different paths. Buddhism is more of a philosophy than a religion. The average person may not know or understand that. I live the "bible belt" , and I have a buddha statue in my front garden area. Let me tell you we get some crazy looks sometimes, specially when the Jehovah Witness come by. But, I believe the philosophy of Buddhism can fit in to many peoples lives without "invading" their religious beliefs. And after all..it is YOUR house..unless you neighborhood Catholic's come by for a inspection who will know?

Well, if you are Catholic, then why would you want a statue of Buddha in your house? Buddha plays no part in Catholicism, and depending on how you treat/view it, you might just be making an Idol out of it

Since you probably already have statues of 'Mary' in your house anyway, why not put a statue of Buddha in there too? Then the two idols made with hands could keep each other company.

It depends on why you're doing it. It also depends on the depth to which you know your own faith.
If you're putting it there simply as a decoration, or keeping it as a cultural or artistic piece, then it's probably okay.
Also, if you know your own faith well and are comfortable enough with it that the Buddha statue won't pull you away from it at all, then it's probably okay too.
But if it's carrying any religious significance for you, it's probably a good idea to take it down, put it away, or (better yet) give it away to someone. Also, if this is the case, it would be a good idea to get yourself catechized and get to know your faith better.

You sound like a typical Catholic. That religion is so narrow and dark aged, no one can actually follow it. So why not? But think on this: if you really cannot follow your religion, why call yourself a Catholic? Isn't that like saying you are Lutheran but you actually often attend, secretly, the Baptist church? Why not become a Baptist? Integrity is really for the person themselves. You can't be happy when you are not true to yourself. You don't have to go around revealing yourself truthfully to others, but you must be true to yourself. If you want to practice Buddhism do it...but you can't really be a Catholic AND a Buddhism.
I am a Wiccan. I used to be in the Pagan community a lot but got sick of so many who claimed to be Pagans but were really Christian. They put a damper on everything and ruined the whole atmosphere for us real Pagans.

What part of "NO GRAVEN IMAGES" don't you understand?
Got a statue of the BVM?
St. Joseph, or The Sacred Heart?
How about St. Christopher?
And now you want Buddha too?!
Trying to cover all your bases?
I don't mean to be cruel, but have you read the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church lately?
Learn of your own faith first before you start incorporating other belief systems into your life.

Hypocritical for sure. Why would you have Buddha in your house if you don't believe in it? I'm sure a Buddhist doesn't have a cross
