Find some statistics on the net about what time of night crimes are likely to happen. Is it not really any more dangerous at 11:00 p.m. than noon? Are there any men going with you that can be protective over your group (a male friend, someone's boyfriend)? Can you promise to take a cab directly from your front door to your destination and back?

If you can't talk her into a later curfew with logic, you'll either have to learn to live with it or move out. If you're still living at home, you're going to have to live by your mom's rules whether or not they make sense. Only by paying your own bills can you make your own rules.

Sorry.

NYC is a tough city! Yes robbing do tend to occure! but it only happens if you are in a bad area! not all places in NYC are bad! But your mother worries you! she knows what best for you! but moms do go overboard sometimes! try to stay in a open area where people are! dont go to streets that are empty! thats where you get robbed or jumped! evan raped if your unlucky! I try to go home at 7 or 8 O clock! I lived in NYC Before and only 42st is the best place to hang out! brookland is ok! but know your places! Just becareful out there! good luck

I agree with your mother. You do not need to be out after 10:00 because the only people out that late are the people who get into trouble. There is nothig to do at night. If you live in her home you live by her rules.

Unfortunately she's right. Well I faced the same problem as you, living in a high crime city. However as time went by, as I grew up and somehow managed to proof to my parents that I can take care of myself, they now let me go as late as I want. Oh another thing, it's important to be sure that your mum knows your friends and trusts that they can protect you.

You should ask u'rself the question 'is she right', look around you and see whats going down, she must have a reason but you should try being more convincing about u'r safety and be open about the places you visit so that she'll be comfortable with letting you go out.

when you turn 18 your considered an adult, so you can make you own decisions, yes people get robbed, mugged, murdered, raped, etc. everyday, randomly. so in a way your mom is on the dot but if you don't like it move out, support yourself, and make your own rules, if your living in your moms house, you should kindof follow her rules, if you don't like it, again, move out

BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING
It may seem hard but your parents as being over protective look to have you around for a long time. They LOVE you. I live in Detroit. I lost a lot of friends due to shootings, robberies of car jackings and some wounded by rape. At night when it gets dark a lot of evil people get our attention at night and crime goes up. You feel you can handle it. The drink or the twisted minds of people come out under the full moon. Police check the moon for weird calls and activity goes up. There are people who care less about you or who you are. They took my 15 year old nephew to the morgue to see the worst of murders unspeakable. He idea the class as one required by his school as they all got sent to lock up to see how loosing your freedom feels. Tears to how loosing your life is... we went to countless sensless funerals of people trying to be nice. After as certain as the street lights come on you get where you need to be for the night. At a friends house for a spend the night. To even be in charge of a older adult for parties is cool. Some one who cares to look out over your dates and dances until you get your bearings to discern who is good and who is full of it!
