Ask your date about him or herself. People always appreciate people who are genuinely interested in them. Tell the person what you like about them.

Talk about what you are seeing around you. Or ask questions like, what is the earliest thing your remember.
or what is your family like.

Practice conversation with people everywhere you go, with everyone you meet, when there is no pressure, and eventually you'll get comfortable and at ease talking to anyone in any situation.

Don't worry about awkward silences. Silence doesn't have to be awkward. There's no rule that people have to be talking all the time. Just enjoy yourself.

after the date u have tons questions u wished u would have asked, but didn't think of them at the time.
rt then sit down and make a list so u will remember them on the next date.
this list will be mostly personal questions, but on the date don't ask the more personal ones like (kids, thier childhood, family, past relationships) all at once. thier past relationships and thier child hood r the most important.
ask some trivial (fun) ones like( what kind of movies do u like?) then throw in a personal one from ur list.
this way u can find out what u really want to know without sending the wrong message.

I always do this whenever I'm speaking to somebody: Ask a question, and while they are answering, think about the next question you're going to ask, that way you don't have an awkward silence. If you can't really think of anything, just ask a question about their answer (example: If you ask the person what they like to do and they say fencing, ask something about fencing).

How about, SOooo.....
do you prefer your guys
circumsized or not?

......do you use tampons or
pads?

......tell me all ya' know
honey,...I've got a
minute!

......if guys get jock itch
do girls get bra itch?

......if your boyfriend Jack
was stuck on a roof,
would you help your
boyfriend Jack off?

Seriously, though, most girls like a guy that can make 'em laugh. Always have 2 or 3 good jokes or stories (not this kind) as savers to tell at low points to pick things up a bit. Make sure you practice so you can tell them well, without wrecking the joke or the punch line.

As long as it's not awkward silence. Comfortable silence is much better.

a general question about something that everyone can relate to: family, school/work, music, TV, something that will open up a door for you to chime in, Oh yeah? Me too!
