You could start with the Lord's prayer at Matthew 6:9-13. If you have anything to confess, then do it, as the Bible says those confessing their sins will be shown mercy, but those covering them over will not succeed. Then you could ask for help, in any area, give Him your burdens, and then do not worry about them.
Also, if you read the Psalms, you will find many thoughts there and say, yes that is what I want to say, or that is how I feel. Of course, all prayers should end in Jesus name. Realize as others said God loves you, if your heart is closed, He did not do it, likely not so nice people did.

As the saying goes;"just do it".
Jesus said that the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. You may just take baby steps, committing to set aside a time each day to pray at least for a little while.
Ask him to help you to open your heart, I'm sure that he can-he made it!
Find scriptures that inspire faith.
I had a bit of a hard time until I heard a sermon on "Return unto me, and I will return unto you" which is an Old Testament scripture.
I held onto that promise from God and have taken steps to renew my relationship with God.
Remember: Ask, knock, seek-he says that you WILL find!
God bless you!
PS: I just read where someone else had said the exact same thing-just do it!
Take that as a sign from God!

To copy a famous commercial. "Just do it". Lay out your life before Him, He knows all about it anyway. People sometimes put so many rules and regulations on prayer, it is simply communication between you and God. He doesn't expect you to pray in the language of the KJV, or use fancy theological terms, just pour out your heart to Him. Of course, before you come to Him, you must believe He is. If you have never received Christ as your savior, that is the door that opens the floodgates of prayer. Think of it this way, why would God listen to the prayers of someone who doesn't believe He exists? Just lay it all out for Him, ask Christ to come into your life and receive His work of forgiveness on the cross, then you will have access to the throne room of God, for all eternity.

Well for one thing you need to get rid of the "man up stairs" thing and recogonize that you are dealing with a Holy God who is not a man. Even John when he met Jesus after His ressurection and glorification fell on His face as a dead man. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.

i have always believed and the older i get the more i see it to be true that its not where you start in life or even where you have been in life but where you end up in life that counts, and the only sin God can not forgive you for is the sin -that you believe- God cannot forgive you, God understands (while most people do not) dont forget that

If you haven't already, just go ahead and talk to Him. One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to take our prayers and make them acceptable to God. Once again, God takes care of us.
He loves you so much.

DO YOU KNOW THE "MAN UPSTAIRS" loves you. bad things happen to everybody, not saying that you don't have a reason to feel hurt or feel like you have been let down. do you have children. think of when something happens to them and they don't like you, do you want them to ignore you. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS OR DOESN'T HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE HIS LOVE LETTER TO US SAYS NOTHING CAN SEPARATE YOU FROM THE LOVE OF GOD, I have a pretty good feel for this if you respond i'll share. nothing weird i promise. PLEASE RESPOND

Think of GOD as your best friend, he is there when things go wrong and when they go right, so in actually he already knows about them. Since he already knows about them, just talk to him as you would someone else who already knows about them.
