Go to the website, usma.edu It has everything you need to know. Fill in a candidate questionnaire and once it's processed, they'll send you a bunch of info on the academy. For what year are you trying to get in? I'm also thinking of applying...All those questions you have are answered in the website, and any other questions you may have, you can just call them or write them an email and they'll answer right away. They've helped me alot. :)

West Point is properly named the United State Military Academy. Their web site below should answer most of your questions. They do have a recruiting office as part of their admissions, just as many other colleges do.

Good luck in your education and career. I tried to get into West Point way back, and was not able to make it through all of the competition. It is one of the best schools in the country for an engineering degree, and is consequently one of the hardest to get into.

you get paid whatever they pay at the other service academies. Any time you receive a commission, 8 years of service is required. From a service academy, that service would be active. You have to take a PT test twice a year. I would assume during the times of year that don't have extreme temeratures.

You first have to be given a recommendation to apply for West Point by any Congressman or Senator from the state in which you live. West Point is meant to be for persons wanting to be career officers in the Army.

Usually 4 years active duty is required after grad. The pay is low, don't know exactly.

If you want to be what your name suggests. I think you should be confortable running 10 miles at a time at least. Oh yeah and get your feet used to road marching.
