women, when you list the qualities you want in a man, how come you don't list handsome or good looks?

When women list what they look for in a guy, it's always sense of humor, great personality, ect. But they don't list good looks or attractive or handsome. Is it because it is generally understood that you must be good-looking, so therefore you don't need to list it? Most guys have all of those great qualities, but when you find out that they are just average-looking or ugly, you are not attractive to them anymore. So, is it that you must be good-looking FIRST AND FOREMOST and then if you have all the other great qualities, then women will fall for you?

I think most women just assume that good looks is a "given" when choosing a partner. If a guy is not good-looking, then most women won't even consider the guy for a date. Let's be honest: women are not attracted to guys they don't find good-looking, and they are not going to date them. So you are correct that when women list things like "great personality" or "sense of humor," the assumption is that this is for guys who are good-looking. Any woman who tells you differently just isn't being honest.

Maybe a lot of guys think they have a sense of humor or a great personality but that is something other people would notice. I really don't think women always prefer good looks. Look at Jack Nicholson,Tommy Lee Jones, Al Pacino, Martin Lawrence, Morgan Freeman or Robert Duvall. None of these men have classic good looks but they do have humor and/or confidence. These qualities are very attractive to many women.

All women have different opinions when it comes to what they look for in a guy. I look more at someone's personality rather than looks. I would rather have someone interesting that I actually have stuff in common with than someone who's boring and dull or self-absorbed. I see a person for what they are on the inside before I pay attention to looks. You can't build a relationship just based on the fact that a person might be good looking...it's impossible.

Because handsome and good looks just do not cut it unless he has good qualities to go a long with the looks. A person is not truly beautiful or handsome unless they have good qualities and they treat themself and others with with respect.

honestly, you hit the nail on the head!, I don't mean to sound shallow, but most girls require that a guy has good looks! I know when I first see a guy his good looks make me attracted to him/want to approach him, and then if he has a good personality, sense of humor, ect... then I try to get to know him more

honestly, if you were walking down the street, and a girl with a face full of pimples, frizzy hair,and bad style walked by you wouldn't really want to approach her, its the same with us, why would we want to approach a guy that we aren't physically attracted to ?

How a person looks is not a quality it's a matter of genes....they have nothing to do with it and for a smart woman it's just a little extra perk....nothing more.

i would list good looks on the list. altho long hair is what most attracts me 2 him. most gurls look for personality. looks arent the main thing. 2 me anyway.

most girls don't want to list good looks because they don't want to seem shallow, even though good looks are VERY important, truth is most girls are looking for a good time and a pretty face to look, at not a life long partner
