their cats/dogs. I'm not including the breeders out there. if you loved your pet and cared for his/her well being and health then you would automatically choose to spay/neuter your cat/dog. what do you think about this. I think people are just down right lazy, stupid, and uneducated!!!!

I agree with everything you say. Why would you allow your female to come in heat and bleed? All the male dogs hang around. It is healthier to spay/neuter and easier on you, the owner. I think if you cannot prove you are a breeder, it should be a law that all animals have to be spayed/neutered.

There are so very many things in life that if they were strictly enforced this would be a better world. U.S.A. is a free country but we go too far the other way. We treat criminals better than most citizens get treated in other countries.

Look how easy the animal abusers get off. Big deal, a $1000.00 fine and they can never own another animal. Do you think anyone ever checks up on them? No they don't.

We have always neutered or spayed our dogs. Not that long a go a cat decided to move into our backyard. The first thing I did was take her to a vet (to find out she was a she) and have her fixed. Surprise, first she was already spayed and second calico cats don't usually get pregnant.

I totally agree with you about lazy people. More, I would call them CHEAP!

But I detest backyard breeders. There are hundreds of unwanted dogs and cats waiting for a new home, living in a small cage in fear of death.

As Bob Barker says, spay and neuter. I add YOU DOPE!

How would you like for someone to tie your tubes or give you a vasectomy without your permission? Don't animals have the right to bear offspring just like humans? What if I WANT my cat to have kittens? Sure. There are situations when you want to spay or neuter your pet. It all has to do with you and your situation. All pet owners SHOULD NOT just automatically spay or neuter their pets. Oh and I LIKE puppies and kittens, and I live on a farm so I have the CHOICE of whether or not I spay or neuter my animals.

I don't think that people THINK about the cost of having little "Fluffy" until they get a cat/dog. The true responsible pet owner sets money aside for emergencies, first vet visits, and yearly check-ups. As for spay/neuter it is usually a MONEY problem. People are willing to spend $50 on jeans but not for their cat/dog.

I agree with you that responsible pet owners of dogs/cats should spay/neuter their pets! They are healthier and happier! I can only believe that people are not educated in this area -- let's educate them! Some people have pets and don't realize the expense of properly caring for them. The SPCA helps pet owners with lower incomes. We have 5 dogs and they were all dumped on the roadside but one -- we have them all spayed / neutered. When you give pups or kittens away -- people don't really value them because they are free and they end up not taken care of!

Well, to tell the truth I really dont know! I guess people dont know how many pets get killed every year because of people like them...out of sight out of mind. Personally I think we responsible owners who have fixed pets should start petitioning to have a law passed that makes all owners of pets that reproduce at any time have to pay extra taxes to pay for the shelters and euthanization fees, and make them all responsible for what they are doing. Maybe then if they had to pay for thier choice they might change thier minds!!

Also I want to add a little something, I have 4 cats and 2 dogs....1 of my cats is not fixed and 1 of my dogs is not fixed, not because I dont want to but because I havent been able to afford it as yet and the others took priority for many reasons..mostly because they started marking when in heat or because my dog was bleeding in heat. My male dog is not neutered and in 3 years has never got loose or impregnated another dog...even when my female was not fixed and he lived in the same house they never mated you can have an unfixed pet and still be responsible, I would take lifetime responsibility for all his offspring in the event he did get a female pregnant by accident. Also one of my female cats is not fixed and she has never had babies in 4 years and is an indoor cat who is afraid of the outdoors, but at the same time if she got pregnant I would also take lifetime responsibility for any of her offspring. So even if people dont have thier pets fixed they can still be responsible however most are not and they let thier cats and dogs have litter after litter and dont even try to prevent it. I never leave my dogs alone outside and I constantly watch them when they do go out, also my cat has never gotten out and I keep her under close watch...she never even tries to go outside.but accidents can happen and as a responsible person who has saved most of my pets from people who threw them away as babies because they didnt spay thier pet, I would make sure to take responsibility for all acidental babies and care for them thier entire lives and I would not give them to people until they payed to have them fixed and signed a contract stating that if ever they didnt want the animal they had to return it to me.
