I have a new bottle of chewable children's vitamins. The expiration date is 06/2006. Would they still be effective, if so how long after the expiration date should they be used? Or should I just throw them away???

the potency of the vitamin get lower and lower as you store it until it is realy useless, expired mean that the potency is lower than the stated amount on the label and also it may be harmful depend on what is it, better be safe to throw it away because your kids health worth more than any things

If it is a freshly opened bottle and if your kids take them on a regular basis they should be okay to finish the bottle. Next time you buy check the expiration date and do not get if close to expiration date.

I do not believe that pills are as effective as they make them out to be. God supplied humans with all the necessary vitamins and minerals in our natural food source. I suggest you throw them out and go and eat some oranges, sit in the full sun for 10minutes or until your skin starts to change colour. Do you really know what goes into those vitamins. Look up the following website, get knowledgeable and then make up your mind. Best wishes.

Most medications are good beyone their expiration date, this is true with prescription drugs too. It is the FDA that regulates the dates and expiration dates.
