I know a lot of illegals who have been arrested time and time again for DUI's, and other crimes, and use different names to avoid harsher punishment. I've wondered how this is possible when law enforcement takes fingerprints. Yet, they still seem to either get away with it or slip through the cracks in regards to their previous tristes. There has to be a way for our "government" to rectify this problem. Throw some ideas out...

Tackle the root cause to the problem, which is identification of citizens.

- ID cards, needed for services such as education, medical, etc.
- Shopping and stores relying on ID cards, and cashless transactions
- Better ID checks (requiring passport, and other checks) when opening bank accounts, etc.

There is nothing we can do. It was pr oven to me when my gran daughter was kidnapped by this Mexican woman and brought to her in Texas and then was caught in Mexico. We ran a check on her and she had about 14 aliases. She was caught by the FBI and the Mexican police in a hotel in Laredo Mexico with my baby, her boyfriend and her son. She signed a confession (which conveniently was misplaced, lost). She is now free to roam around and do her crimes. She has oodles of money but does not work. The FBI is ignoring us. I guess it is ok for her to do this. I just pray that she don't do it to some other child. Who knows how many kids she has taken. The gov't just don't care. I guess they have more important things to do than look for kidnapped kids. It's all in WHO YOU KNOW. If you are a law abiding citizen, you are at the bottom of the barrel. Wish I had ideas on what to do, I've tried for seven months now to no avail. God Bless

They have to have the fingerprints in an accessible database and then they have to use it.

It is supposed to be part of the REAL ID process to do both of those things. However, various of the same interests that want the Senate Bill are fighting the creation of REAL ID and the employer database, as well.

Bush is too soft on the alien situation. Unless the government is willing to address the problem up front nothing will change. And the American tax payer will get the short end of it as we always do.

You are right, you would think that with fingerprints this wouldn't happen. Perhaps smaller police stations don't have the technology to enter them into a nationwide data base?

I'm gonna have to ask my police friends.
