I was very intrigued by the true life documentary of Timothy Treadwell in “Grizzly Man”
Timothy seemed like a great guy, and his death was very sad. It was also sad that he didn’t realize the great danger he was in.
There just wasn't something right about him and I keep asking myself if he had some kind of mental illness.

I do for sure. He saw himself in the bears with their inhuman perfection. He would read sentimental human motives in the bears that were not even there. He would talk to them as if he was in a relationship with them, often telling them that he loved them and that they were beautiful. He was a narcissist. He used the bears as objects (cast members in his own private movie about himself). Did not respect the bears enough to give them what they really needed, to be left alone. I believed he really did care about the bears, but saw them through a narcissistic lens which makes them revolve around himself. All the effort that he put into his film were ultimately more about making himself feel alive then about actually protecting and venerating the bears. He also needed excessive admirations. He filmed himself and only himself interacting with bears with the intent to become a movie star. I think that a small part of him had good intentions but ultimately he just wanted to be a movie star and thought this would be the way to do it. And in the end he got what he wanted, sadly. He now goes down as the person who lived with the grizzly bears for 13 years and was eaten by them. But there is a large amount of people who know who he is and that is all he wanted.

Hell yeah he did. You can tell by the way he carried himself and the subtle obsession he had with some things( like the way he obsessively brushes his hair out of his eyes even though it wasn't in his eyes). Even the way he would fly off the handle cursing like a sailor at people that weren't there. Putting his own life in danger is one thing but being directly responsible for his girlfriends death show lack of responsibility on his part and I do think he had lost touch with reality. The fact is that the guy was bat **** crazy.
