Yes you can. The doctor usually makes a small incision to prevent tearing and promote fast healing.

Yes you can tear. Sometimes the doctor will even do a little procedure to give the baby a little more room. But not to worry... they will give you anesthetic before the birth process gets under way and the doctor is right there to sew up any minor damage. No big deal I've been told. And after there is not that much discomfort. Also, the epidural is the best way to go I'm told.

Ladies? What did I miss?

Yes that happens sometimes. If the doctor expects the baby to be big they'll usually do an epesiotomy (I spelled that sooo wrong). That's when they cut it for you before the baby tears it on it's own.

Nope no pain killers for it. And yes, they have to sew it back up and then later you'll have to go back and get the stitches out (assuming they don't use the liquid kind).

I tore with both of my children, I had an epidural with the second and a spinal block with the first (it's just a shot that works a little like the epidural but doesn't last so long they gave it to me right before I started pushing). If you want to go natural they maybe able to use a little numbing right at the site. Neither or my epidural or spinal block effected my children in any way. I got horrible hemroids when I had both of mine...that bothered me more in recovery than the tare did.

Yes, it's very possible, although a good doctor will know if that's going to happen and can give you an episiotomy to prevent tearing; you'll have stitches to repair it. The other option is tearing, which also requires stitching, but apparently it's easier to repair the doctor-made cut. It's not as bad as it sounds, and you'll be so preoccupied with your baby that it won't even be an issue. Good luck and congrats in advance.

Anytime your pushing a watermelon out a of a hole the size of a baseball, the possibility of tearing is there. With my son, my doctor did an episiotomy to get him out. Its where the doctor takes scissors and cuts from your vagina to your rectum. Some doctors perform this more than they should. It took 38 stitches to fix me back up....my son was 5 lbs 13 ozs. He was pretty small. It still aches occasionally. When I had my daughter I had a tiny tear, (3 stitches), and she was 5lbs 9 ozs. Each doctor is different so their methods are different.

Yes but the doctor who delivers the baby gives you what is called an Episiotomy. He just makes a little incision and then after the baby is out he stiches you back up. It is very uncomfortable for the first couple of weeks but you heal.

Usually if they notice you about to tear they cut you then sew you bck up after baby arrives safely and I'm not gonna lie I have 4 children and it is the worst pain you'll ever feel in a life time!!

Yes, that is where an episiotomy comes in. If the Dr. thinks that the periniam won't stretch and a tear is beginning he will do a small incision to allow more room. Believe it or not at that point you don't even feel it.

When I gave birth, my daughter was sunny side up. They had to take her with forceps. Because of this I was torn the worse that u can ever be torn (front to back). They stiched me up afterwards. I had an epidural so I had no clue until they told me. But after the epidural wore off, I could feel it. Yes it hurt then.
