Excellent! I joined the group! I hate BSL and I hope it stops one day.....to the stupid people out there who don't like pit bulls....I hope you realize that BSL doesn't ONLY apply to pits...it applies to other types of dogs too!

Including, but not limited to....german shephards, dobermans, etc.

I absolutely adore the Pit Bull breeds. I have done a lot of research on them and they top other breeds in temperament scores. Stubby, an APBT, won a purple heart and met 3 presidents. I own 2 Pits, and they are very much a part of my family. Everyone that comes to my house love my dogs. They are very courageous and loyal. They are known to be good with children. They say you can take a Pit Bull right out of a fighting pit (I hate dog fighting) and put it in a crib with a baby.
One reason Pit Bulls are so good with humans is because while in a fighting pit they must not bite a human because humans have to be in the pit with them. They are lap dogs and just big babies. Unfortunately, people that say they are mean, either have never owned one or just don't know what they are talking about.

I don't love pits, (that is just because they are not my kind of dog), but I don't have a problem with them either. What I don't like is that the whole breed has been knocked for the faults of a few. And those faults lay in the hands of irresposible owners and taught behaviors. In a nutshell, people have been profiling dogs in the same way they have been prifiling certain races of human beings. That is what it boils down to: canine racail/breed profiling.

I do understand why people are scared of them; they were originally bred for bull fighting rings and some sick freaks deem it necessary to continue that but instead of harassing bulls, they are harassing each other to the death. Pits are no more prone to meanness than any other dog. It is true that their bite is more severe than any other dogs (instead of their jaw muscles being in their cheeks and jaw, they go from their jaws, to cheeks, and all the way up to the top of their head; so they have more jaw muscle which makes their jaws stronger and pack more of a punch), but did you know that more people get bitten or even attacked every year by smaller dogs like Pomeranians and Chiuauas? However, victims only report the bites from bigger dogs.

I take my dog (a Siberian/German Shepherd mix) to a dog park almost every day where there are several pits that show up. They are some of the most docile and sweet dogs at the park. My dog loves to chase and wrestle and I never have any fear that he will get attacked by the pits. In fact, he normally gets them on the ground and chew on them (in dog-play fashion) Now tell me, do you think a cold-blooded killer dog (who wout masses mine by a bit) would allow another to do that to him? I don't think so.

I do not have anything against pitbulls. I am pet sitting one right now for my brother. I also rescued one the other day and gave it to my neighbor that was skin and bones and only weighed 15 pounds at 6 months old. She is the sweetest dog, only wanting some love and attention and FOOD. The heat has a factor in the attacks right now i think and it is not just them i have a dog the other day bit my husband and i know it is the heat causing it as the dogs are miserable. We get cranky when we are hot and so do animals.

I do! They are the sweetest dogs to me! I have one right now and my other pit died 6 years ago. They are the best! My first one wouldn't even eat a fly. My one right now is afraid of bubbles! But they are soooooooo cute! I'm glad you do to! And for people who don't you should learn about them first. That story was so sad! I'm boycotting Colorado! I joined your group! Well bye from a fellow pitbull lover!

i do not love pit bulls because, i think that the most of them have a tendency to be mean ,bark,or bite.i would much rather have a smaller dog that behaves or at least a large dog that behaves.i would not take the risk of getting a mean pit bull over getting a dog known to be well manured!

I don't necessarily love them, but they are a very respectable breed. They can be very dangerous, which is scary. However, they can also be the sweetest dogs. The dichotomy of their behavior is so wild!
