Once there was a long-haired hippy guy in torn blue jeans and a worn-out flannel shirt who visited a church one Sunday He walked right up to the front row and took a seat. The guy had a worn out, well-used Bible in his hand, a smile on his face, and he was ready to praise Jesus Christ. The two people sitting on the seat beside him very quietly moved down the pew, far away from this guy. He was affected by the actions of those "religious people" and he began to talk to God: "Father, I love you, and I'm here to praise you. I don't have much else to wear, and I can't afford a hair cut, but I'm here in this town to visit my dying mother. I needed to feel your presence this morning, Lord. I hope you don't mind. If you'd told me what these folks wear in their church, I would have borrowed some clothes." God answered back: "I'm sorry, Son. I didn't know what they wore either; I've never been here before." Is God invited to your church?

Anyway the church had ordered thes very expensive banners and were planning some major banner program of some sort so the pastor of the churh called my friend in to work putting up banners as he and the pastor worked a man off the street appeared to them asking for help such as food I guess And the Pastor Screamed at him rudely GO TO FISH! (fish was a local food pantry) My friend informed the good pastor that when that man left Jesus went with him.

I hadn't heard it before, but it is a good story. Most Christians are just surface Christians these days walking through the steps and not really having a relationship with God.

I refuse to go to church. I always have this urge right in the middle to stand up and tell the guy talking that he has no idea what he is talking about, because if he did he would know that his church and his tithe and his silly little rules were not needed.

Dang, I loved this story. Never heard it before, but the concept of Christians not being very Christian is not new. I think I might use this as an illustration for the Senior High. I teach this next Sunday. Thanks

You can mend your clothes and cut your own hair.
And it is not that hard to figure out what are people wearing to church.

What is the reason that this guy fell so low? Must be either his own laziness or God's will.

No, he isn't invited.....he lives there. But I wouldn't be a bit surprised if many of these so-called Christians would not only not let him in, but wouldn't recognize him. They're too busy condemning people.

The dirty hippie is more Christian than the nicely-dressed people. Blessed be.
