It's just like the midieval system. You "fear" you superiors, and you "serve" them so as to win their approval.

I understand very well why you believe in God - don't get me wrong, I do.

The concept of "God" is very calming to those who are insecure, like a method to the madness.

But some people aren't really true Christians. They convert to be "saved" from the ever-frightening hell. Or, they join because they are afraid that "God" will turn against those who don't.

But have you ever thought about the real point of Christianity? What Christ sought to teach all in the first place?

In my opinion, Christianity is not about going to heaven, or falling in favor of "the Lord." It's about what Christ taught to his diciples, the lessons of life, the basic everyday things that make people kind, honest, decent folk.

If you love the Lord, then you will follow his commands (he said it himself). You can't just say "I believe in God" and be saved. God knows the deepest desires of the heart. Jesus said, if we profess to love Him, but do not follow His commands, when we meet Him before the Father, He will claim not to know us. Christ came as THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. No-one gets to the Father except through Him. God desires the deepest possible relationship with us, closer even than a husband and wife.

You can be kind, honest, and decent, but next to the standard God demands, we will all fall short because of our sin. Have you ever lied, then you are a liar. Have you ever stolen, then you are a thief. Have you ever lusted after someone, then Christ states that is just the same as performing the act, and you are a fornicator. Christ came to pay the price for our sins. We are adopted into the family of God, because Christ has "vouched" for us. By His blood, we are washed clean of our sin - it is thrown into the depths of the sea, it is thrown as far as the east is from the west.

Opinion doesn't matter. There is only ONE TRUTH and it can only be found in the Word of God. If it was my opinion that 2 + 2 = 5, I would be wrong. There is a standard against which all right and wrong will be measured, and it is the Creator of all things who will judge.

Yes. God is a consolation for the weak. Here's why:

Consider the universe. Compared to creation, how strong are you? Do you think you can hold a candle to the creative force that brought about the universe?

What can you do in your own power? Can you create even a blade of grass? Planting seeds is not creation.

Do you think you hold the keys to heaven and hell?

What have you done, or what are you going to do within your lifetime to significantly improve the world as a whole?

How strong are you that anyone or anything in this world ought to listen to what you have to say?

What is your security? What can you secure yourself from? Death? Taxes? Do you possess anything that cannot be taken from you? Life?

As for fearing superiors... do you follow the rules? Do you break rules accept when someone in authority is present? I don't know if you drive, but would you speed if there were no cops? Do you slow down when you see a cop?

All of us are weak. Only a fool thinks he is strong and secure on his own. Jesus certainly did come to teach us how we ought to live. He also lived and died on the cross so we could go to heaven.

This brings to mind this quote, "Religion is opium for the masses."

You scare them into submission, and they will trust that you are making the right decision. If you look at statistics, atheists or non-believers, have a higher percentage of extended education then that of most followers to christianity (even those who choose to study theology). People with extended education tend to be a much more free-thinking and rely on science to explain things rather then a 2000 year old fairy tale. It is no suprise to me that half of the south is still stuck in a civil war mindset. They never moved past it and got educated. Notice where the bible belt is by the way. You can look the statistics up.

All these religions teach the same thing. Most do not practice them. It is human nature to define something so it suits their purposes.

Christianity is about control, and money. If god did not want people to join religion out of fear, then why tell us about hell, and make it so bad. This is proof that Christianity was made by every day men to scare people into following them. Do you really think the all loving god throws his children into hell?

I agree with the girl who answered yes to both questions. We all are weak in one way or another, some more than others. The universe and the nature of all things rely on the divine chaos that we as humans create.
But, religion is not something for the weak, only something for the intellectual and open minded.
The belief in god is man's natural sense of trying to explain what science can't and trying to explain death and maricals and possible rebirth.
God told us not to fear him, but christians told of hell in detail. It's up to the person to beleive in hell or fear it.
If you beleve in a hell, hell on Earth, or the devil then you should beleve in God. He made the devil.
Believe in the bad then beleve in the good.
i wish you happiness and a happy day.

Your opinion is borderline heresy. Infact I would say it is heretical. Jesus purpose was to come and give us life beyond the grave. What your saying really makes the Gospel void. I would stray from that quickly, because I would question your salvation based on this thought. He was the deliverer of the new covenant. What are the 50-60-70 years we'll spend here on earth compared to eternity in Heaven. Please look for God to speak to you through the scriptures.

Christianity is based on all of the above. Living the best you can by striving to live the teachings of Christ so that we can one day return back to him and our Eternal Father.

I love and believe in God and it is not because I am insecure, it is because I truly feel and strongly believe that a surpreme and loving being truly exists. I feel and share his love on a daily basis

Christ sought to teach in the first place because it was ans is today to better us all. His teachings were left so that we would follow them and one day soon be reunited with him. I just feel him every day allowing me to wake up and showering me with countless blessings..I don't know about you--Christianity IS a religion, but for me , it's more like a relationship.

Jesus is the "rock" of our salvation and a strong tower when under attack ... i have no reservations about admitting I find refuge and deliverance by Him .... and the way of God IS a better path to walk in this life even if your not a believer. There is much wisdom with God.
