Is tempered glass recommened for a bedroom casement window that is 3 ft x 4 ft( 12 sq ft)?

We are replacing single hung windows. These are first floor windows. Jeld-Wen brand casements.

only if the window is with in 2 ft of a door does it have to be tempered......the size is ok.....so no to the tempered part.
