A nice pocket watch engraved with your name.......Makes a great gift and every time he looks at the time he will think of you and maybe something that he should be doing with you and cut his work time down a bit. Cannot hurt to try.......Good luck on what ever you decide. Being the devils advocate here . Parents are very busy these days. Tell him you would like to make a date to go out for MacDonald's or somewhere son and dad. Nothing expensive but family oriented where there is no waitress interrupting. You can just sit and talk . Somebody has to be the first and maybe he is so damned busy that he doesn't know that this is how you feel. Communication !!

I think the first answerer's idea is brilliant. Go with it. And yes, getting him a gift is the right thing to do. Always take the high road. Good luck, and I hope your relationship gets better.

Love the first answerer's response. 40 is a big deal, and whatever you end up getting, it's the thought that counts.
