doctors usually advise to not pop the blister - the fluid inside keeps the skin protected and can aid in healing. If the blister pops on it's own, apply antibiotic cream and cover it with a bandage to prevent infection.

dont even be tempted! I had one ages ago now, and lovingly pricked it with a pin and all the fluid came out, and I was happy withthat, till I woke up through the night with a VERY swolen and throbbing foot!! I got an infection that lasted about a week! Remember the blister is there as protection and cushioning for you, and will go down when the time is right

Its advised not to do it. If you have to, use a needle [after you've burned the end & let it cool. Makes it cleaner] push all the fluid out. Its just a watery substance. Don't pull of the skin. Leave it, put neosporin on it & immediatly put a bandade on it. But since its advised not to pop it heres something to do. You take a bunch of band-aids & stack them on top of each other [don't put them on & stack them] once you've stacked 'em, cut out the middle of them. Then, place them over the blister. Make sure where you cut the middle out is over the blister so you can actully see the blister. This allows the blister to breathe & heal but also makes it so that your shoes are not pushing on it which hurts. Turst me, this works.

I advise not popping so as to prevent infection. However blisters do sometimes pop of their own accord, in this case remove all the dead skin (to prevent infection) and bathe in warm salt water. You could put an antiseptic cream on there and then a plaster. THe main thing is to prevent infection!

I personally would pop it. Burn the tip of your needle, then slide from one side thru the other. Make sure not to rip the skin, just puncture it. Then take a tissue (or I prefer wet wash cloth) and slowly squeeze out the liquid. Once the skin is flat it will reconnect and there is no pain and no more suffering.

If you rip the skin it will burn, then you'll need neosporin and a band-aide to heal faster......

No, no, no. You could get an infection if you pop it. Gently wrap it with a bandage and some medication (Ozonol, etc.) If it breaks (which it will likely do on its own), at least it is covered. Change the dressing daily and keep the area clean.

See the attached info.

When I was a young soldier, we used to have to pop them, and bathe them in Surgical Spirit... will burn like hell, but cure it off quickly as it dries it out.

Best thing is not to pop them, as the nurse said, it does offer some protection, but if you are using the same shoes again, it will just pop.
