If you are using dial up then the best you can hope for is a web accelerator - speeds up surfing but not uploading or downloading. If you use cable or dsl download cablenut and the cablenut updates (free) to tweak your settings.

http://Bigdoggpinc.com/ go to the bottom of the page and enter in the search for software box the owrds Net accelerator or something like that and there you go or contact the owner of that site and I am sure they will send to your email address some very good one if you tell them what you want.
