I'm not charging him child support now cause he helps plenty. Will he have to pay back the state? What if they don't know he is the father?

Yes they will. Infact they will go after him even after you no longer collect. They will do this to repay the cost of you and your baby from the time you began collecting to the time you stop. And if you haven't told them who he is they will tell you that they will cut you and the baby off. It sucks but it is true.

It just depends which state you are in. My state for example will go after the father if you tell them who he is or, if he is on the birthcertifcate they will tell you, you have to cooperate or you will not get aproved. And in my state whatever he might have to give the state in child support you and your child only see $50.00 a month of it.

Welfare will probably go after him whether you want them to or not.
