go visit the local firehouse. talk to the firechief and tell him/her your interest. Not all fire depts have volunteers but it's worth a try. If they do then they will tell you what you need to do. Usually, it's not much they will issue you a uniform and you have to attend training and or meetings monthly.

Talk to your local fire department. If it is an all paid department, then they don't usually accept volunteers. If you are under 21 though, they might have an Explorers program (similar to Boy Scouts) where you can learn about being a firefighter and ride along on calls.
If your local department is a volunteer or partly volunteer service, then they will usually have free training to those interested. You usually have to promise to volunteer there for a certain amount of time.
Even if your local department is not volunteer, there may be a rural service within driving distance that you may be able to participate in.
Hope this helps...I think it is awesome that you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter.
