ever try that "rose petal on the sheets" idea? its so romantic. and you can even use fake rose petals, but the real ones smell good and are soft. put color-coded cloth over lamps to cast a color on the walls and all around, and match candles. it would be a perfect idea for a dinner too. put rose petals on a table and do the same with the candles and cloth (just dont catch anything on fire!)

You said you wanted to 'make' something?
If you are handy why not make a large frame? Then you make a montage using everything special to her.
Examples could be photos of memories and people that are spectial to her, kids, special places that have meaning, pets, family, tickets to special concerts, some dried flowers that you might have given her? etc etc etc. You know what you wife finds special,
Then cook (or if you can't cook get catered) a meal, candle light dinner music etc etc and then present it to her. (don't forget to leave the kitchen nice and clean!)
Or you could make a disc with all the songs that have meaning to the both of you.
Make a large chest which she can put all her special things.
Its hard to suggest things when you do not know the person.

Make her favorite dinner, breakfast, etc. Pick some pretty flowers and put them in a vase or glass with a little water on the table. Rent a movie, make popcorn.
Also, plan a picnic in a special place, with simple food, like fresh bread from a bakery, some cheese and wine, some strawberries.
How about a massage, especially for her feet or shoulders?
If you think about your wife, what she likes and/or needs, you can come up with something small, free or cheap, and thoughtful to do every day, not just once, and that will show her everyday how special she is to you.

Plan a picnic with her favorite foods. If you have kids, plan a day where they will be with friends or relatives, and draw a nice bubble bath for her...massage...
If you don't have $, get in touch with a massage therapist in the area and see if they would barter anything, you might be surprised! Maybe you could work a couple's massage deal...those are extremely wonderful and romantic. (non-sexual, incase you aren't familiar)
If you two are into music you could make a mixed cd with meaningful songs. Pay attention to the lyrics and select each one for it's message. You can check out CD's at your local library, or download them cheaply from the internet.
You could get really creative and go with a scavanger hunt setup. Write up cards with riddle type clues on them, ultimately leading to a romantic setup in the backyard with a picnic.
Maybe get your friends in on it and tap into their specialties...maybe you know a really great cook, or a florist, or a musician or a photographer?
Anything. As long as you put thought and heart into it will be appreciated. Just notice her. Focus on her.

Wow! Is your wife ever Blessed or what? Well I know that my husband often makes me breakfast in bed,and has gingerly bathed me in a flower petal bath.(which I thoroughly enjoyed) We've had very romantic picnic's in our back yard and laid on a blanket and watched the stars! Let your heart be your guide because you know what she enjoys the most.Enjoy and I sincerely hope that your wife appreciates your thoughtfulness cuz I certainly am appreciative of my man.Enjoy

yes, you know how you feel about her. right? we all love a beautiful love letter or a poem. Just write your feelings it may come out weird at first, but after you have all you want to say, then you start with a clean paper and get it in order the way you want it to sound. It will take some deep thought, but that is the hole point. she'll absolutly love you for puttin so much into it.

Make a moonlight picnic to eat outside at night. Bring some candles, but make sure they are in holders taller than the flame, to protect it from setting anything on fire. Play soft music, on a CD made up of her favorite love songs.

Get a warm bubble bath ready for her and put scented candles in the bathroom. Serve her a glass of wine while she is soaking.
